Oh, no, the lemmings are full of woe! Is there anything anyone can do? No—until the lemmings meet a happy polar bear. Kids will laugh and love this sunny story.
Children's LiteratureIn this happy little storybook, polar bears Lars and Greta along with Caruso the penguin come to the aid of four silly little lemmings. It seems that the four lemmings went out to play in their frozen playground, but one red-nosed lemming got lost. Lars and Greta watched as three lemmings jumped off a cliff headfirst into the snow. The lemmings enjoyed landing upside down in the snow! After Lars and Greta pull the three lemmings out and stand them up straight, they moan that their friend is missing. Greta takes the three lemmings to an igloo and Lars continues searching. He does not have to travel far for he soon hears an "Ah-choo!" Lars found the red-nosed lemming and the little lemming was so sad that he had been lost. Mostly, he was very happy to have been found. Soon, Lars, Greta, Caruso, and the four little lemmings are marching along to a new song that Caruso has taught them. This age appropriate story is colorfully illustrated and the reader will enjoy sharing the story of friendship and happiness. The book is part of a series called "A Little Polar Bear Story" and will be well suited for reading by a teacher to pre-school children. After reading and discussion, children can use the attached two pages of stickers to illustrate their own story featuring Lars and his friends. 2004 (orig. 2003), Sterling Publishing Co, Ages 2 to 4.
