The Little Prince and His Magic Wand

Overview

A Quote from the author - Do I like being a writer? Yes, I love it. Words are the magic I use to create memories through the marks on a page. To see things from different perspectives. To express the experiences and lessons of real life through the medium of fantasy and delight. I feel I am lucky to understand something of the power of emotions - you know, they are unique in the universe and my own dream is that our children will never lose them. If The Spirit of the Forest can make a child smile, or a parent ...

More About This Book

If The Spirit of the Forest can make a child smile, or a parent curl up beside their son or daughter to read, then that's love, and I thank my little prince and his angel for sharing some with us.
What readers are saying about "The Little Prince" -
"When I read this book to my second grade class, they were hanging on every word and couldn't wait to hear what was going to happen next."
-Julie Conover"I just read this book and it is wonderful. It's a story of great messages-having dreams, courage and making the most of your inner strength-but it also has enough action and literal story to keep kids' interest. The illustrations are beautiful and really complement the story-both the literal action and the gently mystical tone of the writing."
"There is double magic going on here-the magic in the story but also the special magic the author has used to create such a beautiful compelling book. An enthusiastic thumbs up!"
Jen M
"A delightful fable for children of all ages . Jillian M Curtis brings the genre of simple, yet melodious, story telling from the ancient oral traditions up to date in a way that both charms and delicately etches a wry smile on even the most jaded of palates. Concisely penned , and never patronising in tone,Curtis weaves a captivating charm."
Steven Mills, England
"Recently I was asked by our pre-school program to be a guest reader to a group of about 15 little ones. Thank you for the wonderful story! Though I read three stories to the group, they were MOST enthralled by "The Little Prince". The book is beautifully illustrated and tells a most uplifting story, which challenges little ones to be the best person they can be! It is a most intriguing story and it is destined to become a classic. I certainly hope you have more stories on the way."

An enchanting debut book by a gifted new author! Should become a children's classic!

A friend presented this book to my granddaughter as a gift to her three-day-old son ... to start his collection of books. A little early, you might say, but we are a family of bibliophiles who believe it's never too early to start building a fine library ... never too early to introduce kids to books. ¿¿¿ Michelle raved about the book so much, I just had to read it too. And what a delightful treat that was. Not only did the story capture me and hold me hostage until the very last word, but the fabulous art appealed to my aesthetic senses. This is the perfect blending of lyrical prose to please the ear and magnificent art to charm the eye. In addition, each page that is not a full-blown art illustration has an eye-catching border surrounding the prose. My favorite illustration is the one of the Little Prince and the Forest Spirit facing the Wizard through the trees another favorite, the Knight of Serendipity outside the cottage. Even the ugly ogre is very well-drawn. ¿¿¿ This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful children's picture books I've seen in a long time ... a book that your child will treasure forever, and read to his or her own children one day. It should become a classic. ¿¿¿ I guarantee you will fall in love with the sweet Little Prince as he leaves his castle in search of some 'magic and miracles' in his life. When he rescues The Spirit of the Forest, they both learn valuable lessons from each other. I don't wish to give the heart-warming story away, so RFY (read for yourself). ¿¿¿ This gifted author has expressed the thought that 'love is making a child smile' and 'love is curling up beside a child to read.' How insightful is that? And since her enchanting book accomplishes both of these things, then she has made the world a happier place by writing it. Thanks, Jillian Curtis, for the moral lessons in this charming book thanks for sharing your own sons with us ... in the form of The Little Prince. ¿¿¿ And thanks to the illustrator, Janet Mattison-Prise, for the complementary art. In my opinion, the illustrations add the perfect touch of magic and drama the story needs to make it unforgettable ... and, perhaps, turn it into a classic. Magical storyline plus fabulous art = classic book.
