Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Little Quack and his brother Puddle are exploring the world around then. It creates many situations for presenting opposites. Little Quack is inside a hollow log and Puddle is outside; Little Quack is near while his brother is far away. One is fast, the other is slow and so on until the end of the day when Puddle is asleep and Little Quack is awake. The flow of activities seems logical and the humor in each situation is clearly presented in the illustrations. One shows Little Quack slowed down because his feet are stuck in the mud. In another, Little Quack looks really big when you see his reflection in the water because he is standing up with arms (wings) outstretched while Puddle is peering directly down at a small reflection of himself. The type font with its color changes as well as the illustrations make this board book a clever presentation of opposites. Other books in the series include ABCs, counting, and colors. Part of the "Super Chubby" series. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
