Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Beverley Fahey
A little teddy bear is left behind when his family moves to a new home. The cleaning woman notices Little Teddy looking a tad grubby and tosses him into the washing machine. Teddy's adventure begins when he is blown from the clothesline, bothered by bees, carried off by a dog, and tossed about by two children. They throw him high up into a tree where a squirrel that thinks Teddy is after his cache of nuts and pushes the fuzzy interloper from the tree. Teddy lands on the floor of a tree house that just happens to be in the new backyard of his owners. A celebratory party for teddy and his bear friends follows a joyous reunion. While the story's pat ending stretches credulity, it is a pleasant sweet tale of one bear's search for his family. The homey watercolors with Teddy's bright red soft-to-touch sweater are the perfect accompaniment. At best this is a marginal purchase for one-on-one lap sharing.
School Library Journal
PreS-K-When his owners move away and accidentally leave him behind, a Teddy bear finds himself in a series of uncomfortable adventures-in a washing machine, hung upside down to dry, snatched by a dog, and as the object in a game of toss. When a squirrel pushes Teddy out of the tree in which he is caught, he lands in the tree house at his old owners' new home, where they host a party in his honor. Large color illustrations with soft backgrounds that contrast with clearly delineated foreground characters, plus the feel of Teddy's plush-fabric, soft-to-touch red sweater, may keep youngsters interested in this rather predictable lap-sharing story.-Shelley B.
