Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
If you have read any other stories about Little Witch, then you know she is a good witch and a disgrace to her family of mean, nasty and not-too-bright witches. What she wants more than anything is to go to school. Finally, she succeeds by promising her mother that she would be bad. It is great being in school. She wins over the teacher, gives the kids a ride on her broom and shares her lunch box of candy for some health food. When she gets home, Mother Witch is angry and asks who all those kids are. When Little Witch says they are her friends, she feels sad. Mother Witch says, you broke your promise-you were bad and Mother Witch is quite proud. A tongue-in-cheek story that is filled with delightful illustrations on each page. A treat for Halloween and all year long. A "Step Into Reading" book, Level 3. 2003 (orig. 1998), Random House, Ages 6 to 8.

Children's Literature - Dr. Judy Rowen
Little Witch is much too nice to be a witch. Her mother likes it when she complains, and when she is bad. Little Witch desperately wants to go to school just like the other kids. Her mother finally relents, extracting a promise that Little Witch will misbehave and won't make friends. At school, Little Witch cleans up the room with a magic spell and otherwise charms the teacher and students. All is well, because her mother praises her for disobeying her command to be bad. Readers who are old enough to get the joke, or who enjoy being contrary themselves, will enjoy Little Witch.
