Doody's Review ServiceReviewer: Patricia Wong, MD (Stanford University Medical Center)
Description: This is the drug eruption reference manual with only the cardiac drugs selected. It lists all known significant drug interactions with a given drug and its attendant cutaneous reactions.
Purpose: The purpose is to provide a useful resource for cardiologists wondering if their drugs are causing a skin reaction. The drugs are listed by generic and trade names, making it easy to identify them.
Audience: The audience is cardiologists and cardiodermatologists.
Features: This is the miniversion of the drug eruption reference manual which has just about every known drug and herb listed. I personally would get the main drug book, but a cardiologist who deals with a limited number of drugs will find this handy. It fits in a pocket without making a big bulge. There are no photographs, as in the comprehensive drug book by the same author.
Assessment: My recommendation is that cardiologists should buy this; any other type of physician should buy the original version with the CD-ROM. You won't be sorry. (You'll only be sorry if you don't own it!).
