Editorial Reviews

Doody's Review Service
Reviewer: Patricia Wong, MD (Stanford University Medical Center)
Description: If you are not already familiar with this superb now classic drug eruption reference, shame on you! This lists all drugs, biologics, and herbs in alphabetical order with every reported skin, hair, and nail complication reported. Potentially serious drug interactions are listed, percentages of reported complications with the reference.
Purpose: The purpose is to educate all physicians on all the different skin reactions that can occur with a particular drug. This is far superior to referring to the PDR, which lumps dermatologic problems as a "rash."
Audience: The audience is all physicians.
Features: "The CD-ROM that accompanies the book makes it really easy to look up drug reactions. You can also do multiple drug searches and see which ones are most likely to cause the reaction. The appendix contains a list of various skin conditions and the drugs most likely to cause them. This book is a must buy for all physicians. "
Assessment: This is the most comprehensive book on drug eruptions. Nothing else can remotely compare to it. You must run to your nearest medical bookstore and get it. Don't practice without it! Once you have a copy you'll be hooked forever. This is the bible for drug reactions.
