Overview

Long before he sold substantial numbers of records, Bruce Springsteen began to earn a reputation as the best live act in rock & roll. Fans had been clamoring for a live album for a long time, and with Live 1975-85 they got what they wanted, at least in terms of bulk. His concerts were marathons, and this box set, including 40 tracks and running over three and a half hours, was about the average length of a show. In his brief liner notes, Springsteen spoke of the emergence of the album's "story" as he reviewed live tapes, and that story seems nothing less than a history of his life, his concerns, and his career.

The Live 75-85 Box set is my favorite box set that I own. If your a die hars Bruce fan, or even a casual rock fan you are going to enjoy these 3 cds. The set fails in its attempt to flow like a usual Springsteen concert, but it still gives a glimpse into Bruce's amazing onstage ability, providing many versions of some of his best songs, that are in fact better live than on their original albums.

I hate to be a wet blanket but the other reviews seem to lack objectivity. Yes, Bruce & E Street were possibly the best American combo ever but this set is NOT perfect. I say this just having listened to it after Clarence Clemons' death, my first listen in a long time. Disc one collects the early stuff and it lacks the depth of Discs Two and Three. Had they been released without it the whole would have felt more like a single concert. Later live CDs seem to be more coherent No one will claim Live in NYC or Live in Dublin has the fire of this collection but they do have uniting themes and concepts and Live 75 also has the advantage of being a single concert. This collection does have some rare gems like Seeds, a recession anthem that still sounds great in the hard times of 2011, and War, a lesson that still has not been learned, even post-Iraq. Buy this set but realize it is not the only word as far as live Springsteen goes.

Springsteen masters the art of the live performance. There is no low point on this box set. He rages through Born to Run, entices you on Fire, revolts during War, grabs you with Jersey Girl, and brings you to your knees with This Land Is Your Land.

If this is what a typical Springsteen Concert was like in late 1970's and early 1980's with his E Street Band it is an awsome show at 3 hours in length. Unfornunatly you can't listen to the wole thing in one listening. This is well worth the money. Springsteen rocks with best and surpasses them.

This is the best album in the entire world! I could never pick just one favorite song off of it because they are all brilliant! The connection with the audience is endearing, and when they sing along with ''Hungry Heart'', you can hear it, and you can actually FEEL it when he starts 10th Ave. Freeze Out, Born in the USA, and when he's doing ''Growin Up''. I love every track so much, and Bruce and his band sound SUPERB on every single song! From full-throttle stadium, to intimate club, from achingly beautiful versions of ''Thunder Road'', ''Sandy'' and ''No Surrender'', to the electricity of ''Because the Night'' and ''Rosalita'', you will love it! I bought it last Saturday, and have listened to it non-stop ever since! I must agree with the fans you can hear at the beginning of ''Jersey Girl'': WE LOVE YOU BRUCE! The lyric book rocks too, with tons of photos and all the lyrics!

I got this for Christmas '04, and I couldn't put it away for hours. Awesome collection. I love the live versions of "Born In The U.S.A", "Born To Run", "The River", "Badlands", and all the others I just forgot to mention. If you're a Bruce fan, get this. You'll love it.

Bruce Springsteen is one of the more exciting performers of rock and roll. His music is simple and appealing to many different types of people. When you hear the sax of Clarence Clemons or the guitar of Steve VanZant, you feel this adrenaline rush like no other. When I'm driving in my car and ''10th Ave Freeze Out'' comes on, I lower my windows, hit the gas, and crank the volume. This set of some of Bruce's finest works ranges from scerene to adrenaline rush. It is one of the most exciting and also relaxing albums I have ever heard

The best damn live collection from the ultimate live performer. Over 3 hours of classic tracks and every one in its right order. You couldn't possibly improve this album. Standout tracks:-thunder road, working on the highway, cadillac ranch, my hometown, hungery heart.
