All Music Guide - William Ruhlmann
With the decline in Heart's popularity in the 1990s, its guitarist/singer/songwriter Nancy Wilson made a first, tentative stab at a solo career by scoring the 1996 film Jerry Maguire and appearing on the soundtrack album. Wilson sounds more confident on the covers, and the guitar is sometimes mixed higher than the vocals, but several of her compositions sound promising. Maybe the next step is a real solo album.

    Hidden Gem from 80's Rocker

One of my instant favourites, this album showcases Heart's Nancy Wilson for both her soft yet surprisingly strong voice, and her incredible prowess with the acoustic guitar. It is a basic album - just Nancy, her guitar and a couple of friends on backing vocals - which makes it feel very raw and genuine, particularly when compared to Heart's highly produced, slick 80's rock. Her own compositions are really honest and have a simple beauty... but it was her covers of Joni Mitchell and Peter Gabriel that really left a lump in my throat. This is a true hidden gem.

    The Other Side of Heart

Nancy's choice of covers and the sweet simplicity in which she delivers them as well as her originals makes this a surprisingly sweet, touching CD. The sound of her nervous laughter makes for a warm feeling...
