Live Featuring Bill Harris, Vol. 1

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - John Bush
When they were recorded live in Omaha, NE, the evening of June 7, 1957, Woody Herman's orchestra had been together for six months, and was one month shy of recording the LP released as Woody Herman '58 on Verve. The featured Harris has much space for soloing, usually coming in right after Herman with his bright tone. Pianist John Bunch is also heard to good effect, though the compressed digitalization here greatly compromises the sound. Definitely a collector's-only release.
