Live in New York 1971

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide
Live in New York 1971 is an audience-recorded gig at the Academy of Music in New York. While the sound quality isn't great, it does feature the initial appearance of guitarist Clem Clempson, who took over after Peter Frampton left the band. This is typical Humble Pie boogie rock of the period, with decent performances of "C'mon Everybody," "Four Day Creep," and "I Don't Need No Doctor." The only dud is the 18-minute cover of the Muddy Waters classic "Rollin' Stone," which gets tedious a lot sooner than it should. Humble Pie fans will want to pick up Live in New York 1971, but the best bet for casual listeners remains Rockin' the Fillmore, which has Frampton on lead guitar.
