The entire Live in NYC album never breaks a mid-tempo stride; instead, Canyon play almost underwater, crying out through upper-register tremolo guitar and queasy organ lines that push psychedelic overtones into the fold. It is nice to hear a document provide a window into the talents of a promising band pulling off an unstrained performance without the safety net of studio trickery, which makes Live in NYC augment Canyon's catalog very nicely.
