Live Through This [Bonus CD]by Hole
By the spring of 1994, nearly everyone recognized that Courtney Love had mastered the celebrity side of being a rock star, but few knew whether she had the musical chops to match. Then, barely a week after the suicide of her husband, Kurt Cobain, Live Through This (a title matched in its eerie prophecy only by Notorious B.I.G.'s Life After Death) came barreling at rock fans with an articulate ferocity. It was as if Love had ingested every annoying conceit of late twentieth-century American mall culture and spat them back out with an intensity that recalled Nirvana, the Sex Pistols, and Iggy and the Stooges. Just consider the titles: "Miss World" (which features the seething chorus "I made my bed/I'll lie in it/I made my bed/I'll die in it"), "Plump," "She Walks on Me," "Doll Parts," and "Jennifer's Body." Many bands trafficked in fury, but few matched Hole's propensity to make it hummable. The recording topped various critics' polls, and Love went on to become the darling of many a fashion designer, film director, and plastic surgeon.

This is one of her only good records. She is a joke and everyone knows it, but before the makeover and drugs and who knows what else - this and pretty on the inside were great Hole records. kind of creepy when you listen to the record knowing this was befor kurt killed himself, you can hear pain and anger in her voice, Doll parts and Plump are the best songs on here. Grunge took over the world in the early 90's, everyone and their brother copied the sound and look. Its safe to say Hole and maybe 4-5 other bands were really influential to music, and most of those bands arent around since the key members seem to be killing thmeselves or drugs. Such a shame. Anything before Celebrity skin is good. After that, dont waste your time
Personally, I think Courtney Love is a bad word I shouldn't say online. But this album is genius! Its so awesome! I personally love every album Hole has put out! Courtney Love makes great music, too bad she has a bad personality going along with it.
I BOUGTH THE CD AND ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE WITH AT FIRST LISTEN. EVERY HOLE FAN SHOLUD HAVE THIS CD.
Ish a great album. I've never liked Courtney, but I have to praise her for this album. The lyrics are awesome, no barbie-girl, crybaby lyrics. The music is really good, hardcore. Even if you don't like Hole, I bet you'd still love this album. You might be surprised. A lot of it goes out to the fact that Kurt helped write it though...anyway, cool album.
I am totally in love with 'Live Through this'! Even if your not into this kind of music, this album really does show the talent and hard work, of Courtney and the other band members! I think that 'Live Through this' is there best album, and if you don't like there other albums/songs give this one a go, cause u might be surprised!
Courtney Love has a gift. She can make some of the most energetic songs around. As usual, Hole starts off the album with a bang with the song "Violet." "Violet" is a great song, full of energy and great vocals. When Courtney screams "Go on! Take EVERYRTHING!" in the chorus, it sends chills up your spine. The next song, "Miss World," is a little bit slower; with a line like "I'm Miss World, somebody kill me" the song can't be half bad. Next in line is "Plump," which is a good, heavy grunge song. Then, we come to my favorite song on the album, "Asking for It." "Asking For It," is a unique song, because for 2/3s of the song, the hook is heavier than the chorus, it's a great song, one of the best ever made! Here we come to "Jennifer's Body," most likely aimed toward Courtney's old bandmate Jennifer Finch (not in the band Hole), good kinda strange vibe. "Doll Parts" was the second single off "Live Through This," another slow song. "Credit In The Straight World" is a good song, probably the dullest on the album. "Softer, Softest" is slow, but it rocks out. "She Walks On Me" is alot of screaming and a little singing, good energy song. "I Think That I Would Die" ... GREAT SONG ... "Gutless" ...AWESOME ... "Rock Star" is not the song that's on the album. Because of Kurt's death in '94 she changed it to a song titled "Olympia" but the cover art never got changed...This is a must have for all rock fans!
Get the title it was a pun on their awesomeness. This album is amazing if Cobain did anything this good he probably would still be here. The drums are just unbelievable. This is just such a perfect album.
Its a great album , Yes it is . But When I first heard it .. I mainly first heard Kristen Pfaff's bass playing and back vocals and piano playing .. It was actaully the fisrt time I had heard of an alternative rock band that had some talent. I think It all goes to Kristen Pfaff .. Plus her bass playing ahd some real music direct in it. Of cousre Eric E. the guitar player in the bad said so .. .. Anyhow cool album .
