Meet the Author

Sandra Cabot is the medical and executive director of the Australian National Health Advisory Service. She graduated with honors in medicine and surgery from the University of Adelaide in South Australia in 1975. As part of her extracurricular medical training, she studied herbal medicine and nutritional medicine. Dr. Cabot began her medical career in 1980 as an obstetrician-gynecologist and practiced in Sydney Australia. During the mid 1980s she spent considerable time working as a volunteer doctor at the Leyman hospital, which was the largest missionary hospital in India. Her first book, titled Women's Health, was an authoritative holistic health guide. Subsequently she wrote several more groundbreaking books including The Liver Cleansing Diet, which has sold well over two million copies worldwide. She has written twenty-two other health titles.

    good advice

    For those who opt for a more homeopathic treatment for liver disease, this book is a must read. I bought this for my mom 10 years ago when she opted not to go traditional chemo and she followed this diet and felt so good. She did end up losing a bit too much weight so she modified over time and found an appropriate balance. 10 years later and she is alive and feeling good. When she eats poorly and feels fatigue as a result she always says "I have to get back to that liver cleanse diet". God Bless and keep the faith!!

    This Book Changed My Life.

    Struggling to lose weight for the past ten years, I finally found a diet using this book that harmonizes with my natural tastes and gives me energy without being deprived. The receipes are easy to prepare and so delicious. I have not missed anything and have lost seven pounds in under six weeks!

    Understanding our liver, and it's function is the key not only to weight loss but to great health, I highly recommend this book!

    Liver Cleansing Diet

    I loved the explainations of how your liver effects everything in your body. Your weight, your over all health, your moods. This book has inspired me to rethink my personal diet and the function of my liver. I will be kinder to my liver from now on. Dr. Sandra did an excellent job of explaining what your liver needs to cleanse and stay healthy-Here is to a healthy Liver!

    The first step to a healthier body!

    In a country where fast food and processed foods reign, and fad diets take us up and down the weight roller-coaster leaving us, in the end, right where we started, The Liver Cleansing Diet is a healthy, natural breath of fresh air! The Liver Cleansing Diet is excellent! My husband and I decided to try it because we were fast-food junkies looking to change our bad food habits. After the eight-week diet, I have lost 25 lbs. and am still losing, I am no longer addicted to soda and chocolate--in fact, the mere idea of drinking a Coke makes my stomach churn, my husband and I both have more energy, and feel healthier in every way. If you need to lose weight--this is a great way to retrain your body to crave healthy foods. If you don't need to lose weight, but know that you do not eat a well-balanced, healthy diet--this book is also great. I think everyone should do it.

    This Book is a Great Self-Education Tool!

    I bought Dr. Sandra Cabot's book, The Liver Cleansing Diet: Love Your Liver and Live Longer , & am happy with it. There is so much people should know about protecting their health from lifelong poor habits, especially where eating is concerned; drinking too. If we don't change the typical eating habits in our population, our livers are ravaged! There is a lot that should be done through grade school & high school health classes too; it would cut down dramatically the incidence of degenerative disease, & at the same time reduce the cost of overall healthcare. Cabot's book is focussed on telling people how to eat healthy, lose weight because of a healthier liver, & avoid the eventual need for excessive medication. Most of the links on her site do not advertise a product. The fatty liver link does because it is a condition that needs immediate remedial action to undo the harm & return the liver back to functioning. I have heard the current generation in our medical schools is learning more about integrated medicine. Dr. Cabot's book fits right in to this trend. It is a revolution made possible, I believe, by the rapid & free spread of information on the Internet. In the 60's, we had Adelle Davis (& in the 40's, Dr. Max Gerson) crusading to try to prevent the disastrous course the American food industry & medicine were on. If only she could have lived to this age of rapid grass roots communication! I say know the tree for its fruit - common sense would prevail if people would read Cabot's book that seems only to want to educate, before it is too late. There's a great value in her teachings even in just explaining the liver's role in maintaining ideal body weight. It takes a healthy, not an over- taxed liver to do that. I think this book is a great self-education tool!
