Reviews

"Jensen's book is a testament to the fickleness of the entertainment world."
-Tampa Bay Tribune

"It is an affecting story, gently and honestly told without frills, without sensation. In Jensen's hands, the twins are always human, individuals, never freaks joined at the hips as the world saw them after their birth in 1908. . . Here, their story is pure."
-Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

I really enjoyed reading this book. Dean Jensen takes the reader on a remarkable journey through the lives of Daisy and Violet Hilton, Siamese twins joined together from birth. From their early days of being exploited as sideshow freaks to working as performers on the vaudeville stages, from county fairs to Hollywood, you'll learn about these amazing sisters as well as gain a glimpse of what life is like for conjoined twins. The Hilton sisters experienced both triumph and tragedy throughout their lives, they gained their freedom from those who only wanted to take advantage of them while on the other hand, they were swindled numerous times and lost their fortune. I also really enjoyed learning the history of showbusiness during the first half of the 1900's through the eyes of Daisy and Violet. I highly recommend this book.

Much higher-brow than I expected. Great history of these phenomenal sisters.

Starts out interesting but so repititious. They had horrible lives, but after awhile you just want it to end.
