Overview

This book is about osteoporosis, the "Silent Disease." It explains what osteoporosis is, testing, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, osteoporosis related injuries, what to expect from those injuries, surgeries, recovery, physical therapy, diet, exercise, medications and fall safety.

Because osteoporosis doesn't discriminate, a chapter has been included just for men. I hope this book will encourage every man and woman to examine his or her life, learn about their bone health and do something to help prevent or slow down the onset of osteoporosis.

Meet the Author

Alice was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis at the age of 35, and at age 49 was placed on permanent disability due to her bone density scores (scores that would have been expected from a woman in her mid-90's). She has broken most major bones more than once, had fractures that required major surgeries, physical therapy and even had to endure a helicopter rescue ride for one severe fracture. She must use a cane for mobility assistance and is not supposed to lift anything over five pounds for the rest of her life.

Due to her age and severity, it is Alice's mission to increase awareness for osteoporosis, promote education and encourage prevention. She wants to inform people about the causes of osteoporosis and help prevent them from going down the road she has traveled with this disease.
