Overview

In Living in the Light, Shakti Gawain introduced a powerful new way of life: that of listening to one's own intuition and relying on it as a guiding force. In the newly revised edition of that classic work, she elaborates on her original ideas, adding aspects of her own experiences and learning process over the past twelve years. In addition to balancing feminine and masculine energies, she now examines several other fundamental polarities we all have, such as power and vulnerability. Everyone's life journey involves developing the full range of self and acknowledging all aspects of one's personality — including both light facets and dark.

Shakti Gawain is such a beautiful person and author. I randomly came upon one of her other works, Creative Visualization, and haven't stopped reading her books since. If you are into the power of the mind, visualization, meditation and all things metaphysical or just generally good for the soul this book is for you. Although I honestly believe it should be recommdended reading for the entire world, but I guess that's a little advantageous. I'm getting ready to re-read parts of it and really do the "exercises" and meditations she suggests for each area. I would actually recommend reading this book at home so as you come to each chapter ending you can stop and do the meditations in the privacy of your home where you can really relax and find a quiet place. She has a way of putting things into perspective that can really draw you in and at times feel like she is speaking to YOU directly. I gave my mom a copy of this book for Mother's Day and I am excited to find out how much of an impact it will have on her. Please get this book, pass it around amongst your friends, let's get the whole world "living in the light"!

This book was a tremendous help to me in mastering meditation techniques and developing my intuition. Written in brief chapters with concrete guides for meditation and exercises to develop the intuitive side, this book is a gentle guide to healing and growing. I was dismissive of many of these 'new age' approaches and a failure at meditation until I began using 'Living in the Light' on a recommendation. I have come back to it many times in the 3+ years that I've owned it and given copies to others. Practicing the techniques has helped bring many positive things into my life and help me deal more effectively with stress and negative events.
