After spending too many years as an industrial engineer, Shannon learned to write from her husband, bestselling author Jim Butcher.     As the Butcher world continues to vividly expand, readers will enjoy this exciting thrille

    Just under a decade ago, the evil Synestryn attacked the Madison household. Nika was near death, but was saved by Theroinai warrior Madoc. Since she suffered mental damage during the assault, no one believed her when she said her younger sister Tori lived, but was abducted by the vicious intruders even though the siblings have a psychic connection.

    Nika became a Sentinel whose purpose for living is to rescue her sibling. However, she fears time is almost over as the link between her and Tori is dying. She vows to make an attempt to find her sister or die trying while her savior from nine years ago continues to deny his attraction to the damaged goods female who cannot be his mate yet his heart argues otherwise. If Madoc ignores his personal vow to never return to Synestryn for fear of unleashing the monster inside him, he could harm those he cares abut including Nika.

    The latest Sentinel Wars romantic fantasy (see Running Scared) is a terrific tale of two star crossed lovers struggling with how they feel about one another and how to mount the sibling rescue. As the Butcher world continues to vividly expand, readers will enjoy this exciting thriller.

    The series keeps going strong

    Shannon K. Butcher keeps the pages turning in her Sentinel series. I have purchased each book in the set and am never disappointed! As always Shannon leaves us with cliffhangers on the character developments for future books and couples. I do recommend you begin at the 1st of the series so you know who's who.

    One of the best new series out there!

    This is a lesser known author, but I am so glad I learned about this series! This is book 3 in the series and is just as well written as the first two. Interesting storyline and characters, and highly original plot. Although you can read them out of order, it is more enjoyable to read the first two before this one.

    Captivates the heart.

    First reading authors work. Read entire book on 6 hour flight to east coast. Totally captivated by characters and plot. Didn't want story to end. Plan to order the entire Sentinel War Series.

    Well worth the read

    Shannon's Sentinel series, brings you to a world were alpha males and females can live and work together. It is a fast read and keeps you guessing on where the next turn in the plot will take you. While you could read each book as a standalone the reading experience is enriched when read in sequence

    Very Fast Paced

    I loved this book. I read it while I was away on a trip and only brought one book with me. I couldn't put the book down and read every chance I had. I had to do puzzles on my way home on the plane, LOL.

    Like this series!

    This is book four in the series, which I really enjoy, but this is not my favorite book in the series. I think it's because I didn't like the main characters as much as those of the other books. I kept reading for the subplots of Grace/Torr and the Sanguinar Logan.I really like the world that the author has created, since it's not the now-trite paranormal werewolf/vampire mythos. And yes, I'm definitely going to read the next books in the series!

    Still really like this series, Butcher definitely delivered. 'Running Scared' (#3) had been my least favorite of the series, but it's come back around into my favor. The Nika and Madoc plot was getting a little cyclical until about halfway through, but once it got going I really enjoyed reading about them and watching them grow and change. As usual, I have a love-hate relationship with the fact that the perspective bounces around so much (1.Madoc/Nika 2.Torr/Grace 3.Angus/Gilda 4.Joseph/Carmen 5.John/Meghan). This was following a few too many couples, but at the same time I enjoyed each of them (a few new introductions) so I can't really complain too much! Given Madoc's dirty mind and foul language, the sex scenes in this book were surprisingly more tame (and less interesting/frequent) than the first few books, but I suppose I can forgive that given that his soul was dying. Butcher continues to develop an original and intriguing world/race that is struggling to come back from the brink, and as always she intertwines the plots and characters seamlessly.

    Highly Recommended - love it

    I love the Sentinel Wars Series. Madoc and Nika really are perfect for each other; I was counting down the days for Madoc and Nika's story. This book has it all romance, action, true love etc....
    Nika shows just how strong and determined she is and Madoc is a powerful warrior with a soft spot of the one he loves.

    Another set of characters that grab my attention is Iain and Jackie. Jackie's story, I think will be very interesting since she is compatible with several men (some which we already love, Nicholas). But I think Iain is her true soul mate

    Loved It!

    I was waiting for Nika and Madoc's story. I loved his strong warrior character in comparison to her sensitive, soft, yet witty persona. She was soft yet stubborn, he was strong yet loving. This story was a perfect combination of romance and action. And now I can't wait for Torr's story (I am not sure when that will happen), because we see a piece of him in the past works, and now it seems like his and Grace's characters have grown enough to have their own story (and hopefully a happy ending).
