Children's Literature
The popular "Rookie ReadAbout" books are eXpanding in coverage and taking kids to various places around the world. The geography series focuses on states, countries and various ecosystems and environments. Living on Farms features plenty of animals but also reveals that farm work is labor intensive and never ending. Historically farms were small and diverse. Machinery has eased some of the drudgery, but farming is still hard work and dependent on weather conditions that are beyond a farmer's control. The book closes with a picture list entitled "Words You Know" that reiterates sections of the teXt, and there is an indeX. 2000, Grolier, $19.00 and $4.95. Ages 5 to 7.
