Barnes & Noble - Dave Gil de Rubio
She may be pop's most notorious chameleon behind David Bowie, but not even Cher can ignore the Grammy-winning success of her previous foray into the world of Euro-disco, 1998's international phenomenon Believe. So Cher sensibly reunites with the U.K. production team of Mark Taylor and Brian Rowling a.k.a. Metro Crew for another infectious journey onto the dance floor. The album is jump-started by "Song for the Lonely," which expands the inspirational theme of "Believe" to include not just your average jilted lover but an entire nation of wounded hearts -- it's dedicated "to the courageous people of New York following the terror attacks of September 11th." Barnes & Noble - Dave Gil de Rubio
The album is jump-started by "Song for the Lonely," which expands the inspirational theme of "Believe" to include not just your average jilted lover but an entire nation of wounded hearts -- it's dedicated "to the courageous people of New York following the terror attacks of September 11th." The similarities are not just thematic on songs such as "A Different Kind of Love Song" and the relentless "Real Love," which pump Cher's smoky alto through a compressor for the de riguer computerized effect that has been the most lasting legacy of Believe's success. Of course, the effect dovetails so well with the swooshing synths and juiced-up beats swirling around the vocals that it's hard to fault Cher or her production team. Why mess with success? Other highlights include the trance-disco manna of "The Music's No Good Without You" and a stellar cover of Amber's house smash "Love One Another." After each comeback, critics have been left wondering, "Can anything hold Cher back?" This collection is living proof to the contrary.
All Music Guide - Kerry L. Smith
Cher returns to the dancefloor for her latest effort, Living Proof, churning out a dozen electronic, beat-heavy tracks about heartbreak, loneliness, and survival. Songs about strength and perseverance are no anomaly coming a woman who has managed to sustain a career that has lasted four decades; and it's no mystery that Cher would be the first to be right there when you fall, telling you to get up on your feet, dust yourself off, and get out on that dancefloor. And get up you will, with this peppy dance album that spouts warm sentiments and reverberating sounds to keep you going all night long. But the power of the album's punch loses its luster each time the auto-tuner kicks in, contorting Cher's deep, sexy voice into some kind of canned electronic robot dialect. It's not until halfway through the album that listeners get a glimmer of Cher's husky vocals on the dressed-down track, "Rain, Rain." Cher takes a brief break from her inquisitiveness about love to dedicate the bold, heartfelt opening track, in honor of the September 11th tragedy, "Song for the Lonely" to "the courageous people of New York, especially the firefighters, police, Mayor Guiliani, Governor Pataki." You can bet the clubkids and long-term Cher fans will appreciate the energy and attitude of the Spanish-influenced tune "Body to Body, Heart to Heart" and the rapid-fire drum beats on the airy track "When the Money's Gone" that is likely to keep them dancing until dawn. Cher has longtime producer Rob Dickins the man who launched Enya's career to thank for the sheer energy on this album. But still, the lingering sense of loss and longing echoing through on tracks like "The Music's No Good Without You" suggest that maybe Cher isn't the only one left still waiting for something truly magical to happen on this record.

STILL GOING STRONG AND BETTER THAN EVER

Cher is magnificent, she is an artist that I can listen to all day, some artist you like just a few songs and never listen to the rest. Not with Cher, I could listen to whatever she puts out. She is amazing and I am so glad she is still performing. I can't wait until her new release December! WAY TO GO CHER. WE LOVE YOU!!!

    Living Proof is right

Cher has one of the most powerful voices in the world today. She has the ability to put intuition into her music that makes it substantially hers, unlike 85% of whats on the market.Mastering the profession of a genuine artist.I await the next journey. DEFINITELY NO CEREAL BOX HERE.
