A journey well worth taking, thanks Michael-Christopher

Hey Michael, I've been meaning to write to tell you how much I enjoyed Living the Life Prequel - Hank. My only regret is finishing it and having to leave those characters behind. I was especially moved by Hank's difficulties with his father. Their confrontations reminded me of my own with my late father. Like Hank, there was a time when I wasn't working or going to school (though, as I now recall, even when I was the conflicts remained) and my sexuality and the existence of a boyfriend caused many ugly and painful moments. You captured that father/son tension very well. I'm sure a lot of us can relate to it. Also, Hank's clear-eyed integrity and strength through that difficulty was quite moving. Part of me now wishes I had responded differently to those confrontations with my father -- oh, well. I have to admit, your novel makes me quite curious about your own coming out experiences with your family. But, back to the point. In Hank, you created a well-rounded and principled character struggling with issues I think we all have experienced -- or at least, can clearly recognize. He and his story are supported by "people" whose relative fullness add significantly to the journey you've invited us on. In addition, Hank and Damon's relationship, with it's false starts, wrong turns and missed cues was another aspect of the novel that rang true --for better or worse. I can't begin to say how important I think telling our stories is. Seeing our black, same gender loving selves reflected honestly within the culture in which we live is essential to the healing of our wounded and marginilized tribe. The next time you're hunched over your drawing table, or knocking out a new chapter, give a thought to all the lives you're touching. Now, aside from that grave burden, LOL!!! -- your work is a lot of fun, too. Can't wait for the next issues. Thanks!!! All the best, Allen

'Hank' Does Same Gender Loving Black Men Justice

This a book that is needed as part of the Black same gender loving diaspora. I felt that it was very identifiable in terms of it has a character {Hank} who isn't an elitist E. Lynn Harris {author} character making $100,000+ per year or a street driven banjee boy character from a James Earl Hardy {author} novel either. Hank's a character inbetween all that rendered in a reality setting and it works for me. The book is a page-turner and you truly are invested in the well-being of Hank. Definitely a MUST read! Hey Mike, I can't wait for your 'Andre - Prequel' novel. Peayce my brutha! Rod

    Prize-winning Page-turner!!

The story in this book is very believable. It feels like I could walk in Hank's shoes. I have been recommending the book to all of my friends. Christopher keeps the reader's attention with everyday situations which makes for an easy reading page-turner! Much success to the auther and I can't wait for the sequel.
