    Horrible

I read this book 10 months to the weekend after my husband passed. It threw me back months. I don't know this man or who he is, but he has added nothing to the literature of healing following deep loss. Nothing. There are so many good books available. This is NOT one of them. Perhaps he meant no harm, but he harmed anyway.

I would not recommend this book.

You can read this book in about 30 minutes and I did not find it helpful.

    Healing

Not as specific of a subject, as it has a lot of dealing with "other" subjects.. needed more specific dealing with loss of a spouse.. but it was helpful in sections.

One of the two best books on grief

This book is perfect for people in mourning because it is in the form of poems that express the raw feelings of grief. It helps you feel what you need to feel.

    Very highly recommend

I discovered this book 5 years ago when my mother passed away and I was looking for help in my grieving process. I have since bought it for all of my friends and co-workers as they have lost loved ones (I've probably given more than 20 of these books). This book is very straightforward in explaining the grieving process using simple, short passages. It gives you 'permission' to feel the way you do without any apologies to either yourself or others.

Useful for friends of the bereaved

While this book has straightforward and logical advice for people in grief, I beleieve it's a book people should read as a preparatory for loss, given that we all suffer death of loved ones and it so often comes as we're holding on to hope. Very good for friends who genuinely want to be there for their grieving intimates. For an intimate and lateral study of grief I also highly recommend IN THE GHOST COUNTRY by Peter Hillary and John Elder, particularly for men who may not be able to deal with grief head on.

    Healing - Food for thought

A very good book to help you realize your feelings are normal. Grief is a journey that no two people journey in the same path. Your emotions are yours and yours alone. Lets you know when your feelings can lead to more in-depth concerns (sucide, alcohol, etc.) It helps you manage your feelings and accept the death and start healing. Guides your journey to living again.

    Coping with your loss

This book was given to me by a very close friend when my dad died four years ago. He spent hours in Barnes and Noble searching for the write book for me. I found such comfort while reading it. I must have read thorough it several times. It makes you feel like you're not going crazy. All of the feelings that it talks about are exactly what you're going through. It is also very easy reading. Each page has several thoughts, which are very easy to process when you're grieving. I slept with it next to me every night. I am now purchasing it for a friend who lost her dad two days ago. I hope she will find it as helpful as I did!

    Comforting for the grieving

I was given this book from the funeral home that handled my Father's funeral in 1991. Since then I have purchased three for friends that have lost family members. They too, think it's great!
