When I discovered my husband had a sex ad on the Internet the first time, I confronted him but believed his excuses the second time we went to marriage counseling the third time he admitted he had a problem, went to a therapist and was diagnosed as being a sex addict. He is happier, more carefree and loving than ever before...but he has a long way to go after only a few months in therapy...this book is a guide to help anyone walking through this experience as I am. I've been married less than five years after a first marriage of more than 25 years and I'm taking each day cautiously...the book is a wonderful guide.
This book is appalling. The cause of infidelity is explained in such a way as to practically remove any responsibility from the men who commit adultery. This author posits that sexual addiction and the power of sin, coupled with men¿s innate sexual appetite, make their adultery understandable. Additionally, implications of women¿s responsibility for men¿s behavior (¿sexual sin¿) underlie these ¿causes¿ of infidelity. Women¿s appearances¿ tempt men to sin; additionally, wives¿ ¿sins¿ (ex. anger and sexual unavailability) against their husbands can contribute to adultery. As a result, wives are somehow implicated in their husbands¿ ¿sin¿ of sexual infidelity.
Very good book in helping the spouses/ significant others to cope with husbs./boyfriends'sexual addictions secret wars. It specially helps in validating the feelings of pain, anger, loss & betrayal we all experience as we discover their secrets. The book deals with Christianity (as a way to assist oneself), this bothered me some, but for those who agree with this concept, it will be an invaluable tool.
