Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Danielle Williams
Lizard is a rather vague term, and most people use it to refer to any creature that resembles what people think a lizard is. Yet many of the animals that people refer to as lizards are not lizards at all. Conversely, many actual lizards are not thought to be lizards by people who are not well-versed in the animal kingdom. In this book, Cheshire strives to clear up the confusion. He offers basic information about lizards, from the biological differences between lizards and other reptiles to interesting facts about different types of lizards. All told, the text is an adequate introduction to lizards. Full-color images offer examples of several different types of lizards, and brief facts that appear on several pages offer deeper insight into these animals. Cross-sectional images provide an interesting look at lizards' anatomy, while several "x-ray vision" pages offer different and fascinating looks at various types of lizards. This text is part of the "Scary Creatures" series. Reviewer: Danielle Williams
