Children's Literature
This picture book is a bedtime story for young children who have dealt with the concerns of falling asleep. The book is also about mother-comfort and a young child struggling to cope. The only two characters are Baby Llama and Mama Llama. The familiar story is basically told in four-line rhymes and conveys all the emotions of baby waiting for mama to bring a glass of water to him while he also waits for sleep to come. The mom is busy downstairs and when the phone rings, the wait becomes longer. Perhaps the cleverest rhyme is when mama returns to the baby after his loud fussing and says, "please stop all this llama drama and be patient for your mama." The illustrations make the book a winner. The background colors are bold with dark blues portraying nighttime. The characters are painted softly with wonderful facial expressions and terrific action poses. Baby yells for his mother and the force of his yell is apparent. Mama comes running, and we see her quick movements and concern. The book is a good blend of text and illustrations with an appropriate story for its intended audience. 2005, Viking, Ages 2 to 6.

    My 15 month daughter adores this book.

    Since she received this book at 11 months, my daughter adores this book. She searches for it if it is not on the coffee table. She finds it and brings it to us to read or just sits and looks at the pages, flipping back and forth. If you just say LLama, Llama Red Pajama it sets her off on a hunt. If she is about to have a melt down or is in the middle of one, bringing out the book stops the melt down in its tracks. Still her fav four months later.

    Excellent children's book and fun to read over and over. Highly Recommended!!!!!

    I recently picked up this book for my 1 year old daughter. She loves books and being read to. She's never seemed to favor one book over another until now!! She loves Llama Llama Red Pajama! She gets excited when you even say the title of the book. More amazing to me is how intently she listens and looks at the book. She's not overly eager to turn the page in this book, like she is with almost all others. We read it at least a few times a day and because its fun to read, neither myself or my husband dread having to read it. I'm waiting for her to wake from her nap and then we're off to the bookstore to buy the other books in this collection.

    Wonderful book

    My son is three now, but we discovered this book through the Dolly Parton book of the month club and thank goodness we did because my son has loved it since the day we got it in the mail. We read this book just about every night at bedtime and I am going to get some of the other baby llama books soon.

    Free at Read for the Record

    I love this book,but was disappointed once this ebook was downloaded to my iPad. For this price, there should be interactive pages and audio. The same quality online book was free at the Read for the Record website. The author's website is another resource that I would recommend which is free as well.

    Fantastic book!

    My son received this book as a gift when he was about 18 months old. We read it at least twice a day. He loves the illustrations. This is a must have book!

    Love it Love it...none above it!

    My son loved this book from the first read! It has a great lesson as he's an only child and can be quite dependent upon "Mama" at times--especially bed time. Wonderful illustrations telling a super story.

    SO CUTE!!!!

    I got this for my niece last Christmas and she loved it. Wanted to have it read to her over and over again. And I thought it was too cute. The story is something kids and parents can relate to and the rhyming with llama was just too much. My husband and I still use the phrase "Llama Drama" and it's not even our book and we don't have kids!

    Best bedtime story

    My daughter received this book for her 3rd birthday and it became an instant favorite (she's almost 4 and it's still her favorite at bedtime). She acts out the lines right along with me! I would definitely recommend this book for any toddler/preschooler.

    This books is the best. My daughter received this book on her 1st birthday and it has been a favorite ever since. She is currently 29 months old. She now anticipates whats coming and acts out what Baby Llama is doing (minus the yelling). She loves this book so much that I have been using it to help potty train her. She will only sit on her potty if she can read a book. She picks this book and a couple others every time. Also we have had to go and buy a second book because the first book was used so much that the pages become fragile. Such a treat of a book.

    BEST BOOK FOR A TWO YEAR OLD

    I gave this to my two year old..he has a lot of books but from the first raading this is the book he loved. He made me read it three times the first time and would bring it to me or his parents and let us know HE WANTED US TO READ it to him...he almost knows the story and his favorite part is when the mama llama comes back upstairs...he then tells us that she is back and the next page where the mother is kissing the baby OH HE LOVES THAT I just bought two more at the store today for two other two year olds, I hope they will love it as much ,,,it has been a real joy to see him love this book...nana

    Great

    This is agreat book my 4 year old and 1 year old love it. It helped my oldest to understand that mommy has stuff to do when she goes to bed. Great pictures and not so long that i lose my 4 year olds attention. Just a great book all together

    THIS MAMA LLAMA LOVED IT

    We sat at B&N and read this book. I loved it because it is just like my kids calling me after I prayed and said good night. They are learning to read and the rhyming words and the illustrations are fun encouraging them to want to read the book. It is a great book for 5 and 6 years old children. And, Mama Llama loved it!!! (But Papa Llama said it was too expensive - almost $17 so we will read it at the library until the price goes down some). Definitely recommended!!!!
