PS-Gr 2-Part of the "Escalones" ("Ladders") series, this is a good starting place for sharing information about the weather and seasons with young children. Colorful illustrations, "Did you know that?" text boxes, a humorous story about a meteorologist grandmother, and riddles and a quiz create interest and fun for children. A good choice for school and public libraries, and for bookstores serving young families. Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
Children's Literature
Discover the different seasons and how the weather changes through the year as well as well as how it affects plants, animals and people. In this book, you will find plenty of scientific data regarding the clouds and rain, the wind, a thunderstorm, snow and ice, and overall be exposed to a new vocabulary related to the seasons. There are also questions and answers, puzzles, trivia, games and activities relating to the different seasons in this book. The illustrations are colorful and descriptive, and the color photography is very impressive. You will also find a very funny story about Rosa and her grandmother who is tired of listening to the weatherman and his always-wrong weather forecast, and decides to invent a machine to predict the weather herself. It turns out that she wasn't right either, but her wrong predictions save the day—or the neighborhood from a hungry tiger that has escaped from the zoo. This book contains everything a young mind wants to know about the weather, and it will keep the little ones occupied and amazed for hours. 2002, Two-Can Publishing,
