Editorial Reviews

From The Critics
Reviewer: Charles C Wang, MD, MS (University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine)
Description: This book illustrates the essential skills of anatomical localization of lesions in neurological diseases.
Purpose: The purpose is to help the audience master the clinical localization skills by providing them with extensive and necessary clinical and anatomical knowledge. These are worthy objectives and this book has met the authors' objectives.
Audience: This book is primarily wrriten for neurologists either in practice or in training (residents or fellows). However, neurosurgeons and related practitioners may also find this book useful. The authors are credible authorities.
Features: The book covers essential neuroanatomy for localization of lesions and the clinical methodology of performing this localization from central nerve system to peripheral nerve system. Attention is paid to localize lesions based upon knowledge of anatomy, physical examination, and clinical history, not by CT or MRI.
Assessment: Although we are living in an era full of modern techniques (MRI, CT, PET, and SPECT, etc.) the traditional, elegant anatomical localization skills based on history and physical examination are still the most crucial part in approaching neurological diseases. The authors have accumulated a great deal of knowledge in their professional careers. This well organized, carefully wrriten book provides an invaluable tool on localization of neurological diseases. The authors' efforts are certainly rewarding and this latest edition is worthy to replace the previous one.
