Overview

Acclaimed suspense novelist and New York Times best-selling author Joe Hill continues his Eisner Award-winning story of dark fantasy and wonder.

The dead plot against the living, the darkness closes in on Keyhouse, and a woman is shattered beyond repair in the third storyline of the Eisner Award-winning series, Locke & Key: Crown of Shadows. Dodge continues his relentless quest to find the key to the black door, and raises an army of shadows to wipe out anyone who might get in his way. Surrounded and outnumbered, the Locke children find themselves fighting a desperate battle, all alone, in a world where the night itself has become the enemy.

Crown of Shadows features an introduction by Brian K. Vaughan (Saga).

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"The characters, the setting (complimented by the always goegeous Gabriel Rodriguez art), the mystery, the intrigue, everything all presented and balanced so deftly that it almost hurts." — Ain't It Cool News

"In case my past reviews didn't praise him enough, let me reiterate that Gabriel Rodriguez is a master storyteller. As such, Hill once again illustrates complete faith in Rodriguez's ability to show the reader everything they need in order to piece the story together." — IGN

It had been awhile since I read the previous volume, but it didn't take me long to remember how awesome this series is. The plot is so imaginative, and the artwork is excellent.

Just when you think the family has more to deal with, next comes another twist and another turn. Then you're thinking, what other keys will they find and will they catch a break already? Also, the tone for this got crazy and a little dark than usual. I like the key designs and the covers. Sets the tone. Weird as ever.

Joe Hill has succeeded in creating a new graphic novel fan. Beautiful artwork and a creepy storyline.

Just like the first two collections, the third Locke&Key collection is wonderful, engrossing, fascinating, and incredibly hard to put down. The characters continue to become more fully fleshed out and likeable and the dangers to them keep increasing. I love this seriees and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good adventure, mystery, or horror story.

This is by far the best Locke and Key book yet. There is so much suspense and action that it outshines the others by miles. It feels good enough to be the last in the series. There’s more emotional stress between the family, and more background to the story, but it’s still unclear. The plot thickens and then like any story gets resolved. At the end of the book you feel like the major crisis has been adverted now, but much worse is to come. Book Rating: 5/5 Reviewer: Kole for Book Sake Yep, better and better. I don’t know if there is much that I can add to Kole’s review of this book, but I will try. We start to see more and more information about the history of Zack and his devious ways. There is tension in this story and at times I wanted to smack the mother – she’s so lost after the trauma she’s experienced. The three volumes I’ve read all flow from one to the next smoothly and seamlessly, building on everything we’ve learned and the problems that the Locke family faces. All the characters that they encounter are fully realized and add to the storyline instead of distracting needlessly. This is my favorite graphic novel/comic series as of late!
