Seeing the world with the innocence and imagination of a child can be a difficult thing to do when you're an adult, but that's what internationally known children's author, Mia Coulton, does. In 2000, Mia combined her passion for teaching with her lifelong love of dogs and decided to write her first book. Her goal was to share her enthusiasm for books and reading with young people. Since that first book, based on the escapades of her yellow Labrador Retriever, Danny, Mia has authored more than 110 titles in both the fiction and nonfiction genres. Her memorable fiction stories are filled with lovable animal characters, all of whom possess human attributes.
Mia's background in education, where she specialized as a Reading Recovery teacher, enables her to craft her “not as simple as they look” books to maximize success for beginning readers and encourage emerging reading skills. In addition to being loved by children, her books are endorsed by educators, are staples in reading libraries, and are used in classrooms by elementary school reading teachers across the United States.
Mia is recognized as an expert in Reading Education and is also a sought after presenter at education conferences. Today she lives in northeastern Ohio, sharing her home with her husband, their beloved dogs, and the occasional visiting grandchild.
