The many reviews printed about this particular ablum have failed to do it -- and Gilmore -- justice. Gilmore is a woman with a magnificent set of pipes, and she knows how best to showcase that resplendent gift. Loft Music is a compilation of 'cover tunes,' all carefully chosen and skillfully brought to life a la Gilmore. Ask any musician, and a covers album is always a risky venture. And yet, she succeeds magnificently. Her rendition of Bad Moon Rising takes on an almost chilling tone in light of recent hurricane activity in the southeast U.S. of A. She has triumphed in bringing new life into some of these classics -- nay, into all these classics. While one reviewer attempted to poke holes in her album stating that her attempt at Phil Ochs' When I'm Gone is some sort of a disappointment, this reviewer disagrees. No disappointments on Loft Music. All songs are thoughtfully executed, and all are worthy of accolades. In closing, it can be stated that Loft Music is for folks seeking signs of intelligent life, signs of MUSIC in its urest form, and evidence that musicians are still out there working and recording. This CD is a gift to us. This awestruck reviewer will forever remain grateful.
