Overview

LOGIC AND STRUCTURED DESIGN is an introduction to the logic of data processing. It is intended for those who plan, but have not yet begun, to study programming, particularly those with little background in mathematics or logic. The author avoids reference to specific programming languages, isolating questions of logic from questions of syntax. This approach enables readers to concentrate on the logic of problems. The book walks readers through logical problems common to a variety of programming languages and provides the background in logic that many programming texts and courses assume.

Editorial Reviews

Booknews
New edition of a text in which Rood (Washburn U.) focuses on the development of algorithmic thinking skills on which students can build programming skills. His approach avoids reference to specific programming languages and isolates questions of logic from those of syntax. He makes use of various design tools such as flowcharts, structured flowcharts, Warnier and Nassi-Shneiderman diagrams, and pseudocode to illustrate and clarity key concepts. Annotation c. A good learning tool

I have taken Logic from Computer Programmers from Dr. Rood, and it isn't an easy class. This book helps you out in many ways. First, it gives you plenty of visual aids, to help in the learning process. Second, it forces you to learn the basics of logic, if you don't know the basics you can't progress into the book. Finally, it makes a great hammer when you just want to smack something hard, because this class is so darn difficult.
