Overview

Buried treasure shines brightest in the dark…

The Legendary Warriors, Book 3

Ten years after she survived a cholera epidemic that wiped out her entire wagon train, Carolyn White is on a quest to shake off the bad luck that follows her everywhere and which now threatens her adopted family. The unending string of mishaps can have only one source: the gold piece that she, in childish innocence and wonder, once took from a stolen cache.

She tells herself her journey to Crow Country is merely to put the piece back in the cave where she found it. Yet in her heart, she knows it’s the memory of Lone Arrow, the boy who sheltered her there. The boy whose face, now that of a man’s, inhabits her dreams.

Lone Arrow’s anger knows no bounds. Anger with the white woman he suspects isn’t being truthful to him. Anger with himself that he cannot ignore the beauty who captured his heart even as a boy. Though trust is in short supply, he can’t deny his burning need for her. Whatever else she may be, she is his destiny.

    Highly recommend all karens books

If you think you only like contemporary love stories, think again. Karen kay writes fabulous historical love stories that you just cant put down. Sexual but not erotica, she doesnt cross the line and its always between two people who are in love and destined to be together. Karen kay rocks.

No one writes men so well as Karen Kay

This was my favorite of Karen Kay's books. Overall, her greatest appeal is how she writes the male lead. They convey strength, vulnerability, sensuality, intelligence and humor. She really makes you feel the emotion between the hero and heroine. Ms. Kay communicates shivers of pleasure to her readers by the hero's simplest look! In this particular story, the conflict of duty vs. desire between Lone Arrow and Carolyn is well-done.

    more from this reviewer

    superb Indian historical romance

In 1866 in the Montana Territory, eleven years old Carolyn White watches her family and the other wagon train travelers die from cholera. Frightened, Carolyn feels hopeless until the ¿whirlwind¿ gently guides her to sixteen-year-old Crow, Lone Arrow. He saves her life from a bear by forcing her to enter a cavern filled with forbidden treasure. He warns her to take none of the artifacts as a curse will follow her if she does. Finally he escorts her to the safety of a nearby fort. <P>Almost a decade later, Carolyn¿s adopted parents face foreclosure of their land after a string of bad luck. Carolyn believes her pilfering a gold arrowhead from the sacred cave has caused the misfortune. She returns to the Bighorn Mountains to find Lone Arrow' in order to return the stolen item. Lone Arrow is protector of the mountains especially the sacred treasure cave. He wants to marry Carolyn, but seemingly distrusts her more than he loves her. <P>Fans of Indian historical romances will want to read LONE ARROW¿S PRIDE as the story line focuses on the relationship between Carolyn and Lone Arrow. The tale never loses sight of the prime theme as if the plot was the minimum but critical prime path of a pert chart. The lead couple is a delight and the support cast provides either depth to understanding the key duet or propels their tale forward. Karen Kay furbishes a strong tale that deserves plenty of kudos. <P>Harriet Klausner
