Overview

A home-grown killer tears a small town's secrets wide open.

Judge Madelyn Cooper never shows signs of weakness, but when a killer threatens her daughter's life, Maddie does what any mother would do. Run to the place where her daughter will be safe. And that place is Greendale, Texas. Maddie left Greendale fourteen years earlier, pregnant, broke, and without saying a word to Rand McCade. What could she say after her father killed his parents?

Rand McCade is determined to keep Greendale safe. As Sheriff, he promised there would be no repeats of the horrible day when his parents were murdered. Now Maddie is back, bringing trouble with her once again. And this time, she has a daughter. His daughter.

As a psychopath sets his sights on Maddie, Rand and Maddie must figure out who is after her, and why, before someone else ends up dead.

"I read Lone Star Justice in one sitting, from beginning to end. I couldn't put it down. Great suspenseful plot, wonderful characters, and a lovely romance. I hope Tori Scott writes more because I'll read them all!"

Move over Baldacci and Patterson!! Tori Scott is on the way!! Just when you think you can relax and get to know the people in the story something else happens. unexpected exciting. Coulden't put the book down. The cover of the book suggests a western. It is not. It is a thriller. I can't wait to read her next one

I had just read another of her books, and when I saw this, had to try it too. This woman is a fantastic author! She makes the storyline so suspenseful, and romantic, who could not like it? Another thing... she talks about towns right here where I live, and that's fun, too. I'd give her 10 stars if I could... loved the book.

This is the author's first go at romantic suspense and let's all hope it isn't her last cuz not only am I depending on her to write Cody's story it would just plain be a shame! Right from the start I was in a whirlwind of emotions ranging from wanting to kick someone's butt to being suspicious of every character! As for the main characters Maddie and Rand...ahhh unrequited love and secret's that will change everything. I particularly liked how this author gave us all the details that are usually lacking in most books at just how the characters and events had been manipulated or sabotaged. I think laying it out in this way was a great way to flow from young love, anger & betrayal, to finding their way back without it seeming rushed, unrealistic or cheesy. Throw in some humor and sex and what more could you want or ask for! I suggest you buy it, read it and enjoy it as I did.

A must have for your romantic suspense library! Tori Scott will capture your interest from start to finish! I could not put this book down. LONE STAR JUSTICE is the intriguing from the start. When Maddie Cooper left town as a teenager she devastated Rand McCade. Now she's back with the 13 year old daughter that Rand doesn't know that he has. Maddie has made a life for herself and Brandy in Oklahoma she is a respected judge, but now there is a psychopath determined to kill her and possibly Brandy. Maddie has done the only thing she can come home to Greendale, TX although it means facing old memories and accusations, she will do anything to keep Brandy safe. Maddie knows she needs to tell Rand about Brandy but isn't sure how or when, and the killer keeps getting closer, and surprisingly closer.

The first in the Justice series. It was riveting and kept me going until the end. As I was reading, my mind kept telling me, "oh it was this one who was the bad guy" but it never was. So it was different, not predictable at all. Great read and ready for more of them.

Poor Girl, Rich Boy and their lives on a collision course... Maddie grew up poor but bright.. Pregnant at 17, mother at 18, she had gotten out of town, got an education and was now a respected Judge in Oklahoma... and, a single mom to Brandy, age 12... Rand grew up in the same town, rich and privileged.. Ran off and joined the Army rather than follow in the career path laid out by his parents... Now he is back and the Sheriff of his hometown... When Maddie's best friend is found dead she realizes that she is next (lots of clues to let her know) and takes off for her old home town to feel "safe".... What happens is scary, unpredictable and kept me reading well into the night...Excellent story, wonderfully written and one of the only "stand alone" books I have read in a long time... Sorry about that but Ms. Scott has lots more and with her talent I will keep reading...

2.5 stars for effort. This is not a chick/lit or mystery. And it has some mild suspence. The story was told an abrubt manor. The characters were emotionless & with no development. The read was boring.
