Gabriel: alpha wolf, Captain of Guard, superb trainer, loyal right down to his bones and just blessed with a true mate- the literal other half of his soul, catches his father betraying everyone he holds dear. In a desprate effort to save his true mate he makes a horrible deal to the monster his father's become.
Gabriel is now torn from mate, his metaphysical connection to his wolf and forced to serve two masters.
What the author does so skillfully is to paint the slow, agonizing decent from the bright and shiny to the broken, dispairing, shatterexd shell of a man. What I truly appreciated is that the author accomplidshed this forty year look fall withour me

In the stunning conclusion to Westervelt Wolves. We find out why Gabriel "Gabe" Kane is believed to be a traitor and betrayer. Forty years before the day all mated wolves killed their mates, Gabriel Kane found his mate but she didn't seem to know it yet. Gabriel was and only ever called Gabe by his mate Carrie White. They had only been mated six months when Kendrick Kane's curse was loosed on Westervelt Island. Gabriel made a deal with the devil to protect his mate and pack from utter destruction. Little did Gabe know that he'd lose all contact with his wolf's soul and his mate's soul. Kendrick always believed that Gabriel was completely loyal to him and never really questioned why he received so little information. Carrie White has been in utter hell for over thirty years. Carrie despises Kendrick Kane and his pet witch Drea. She understands why Gabe made the deal but she doesn't have to like it. She and her wolf are at the end of their patience for Kendrick and Drea. She wonders how to escape this hell when Gabe shows up then her world turns upside down completely. Will Gabe get his wolf soul back along with his mate? Will Kendrick finally get what's coming to him? How will Carrie convince Westervelt Wolves that she's telling the truth? Your answers await you in Lone Wolf.
Fitting ending for a wonderful series. Gabriel Kane and Carrie White are the only two people that can effectively stop Kendrick Kane and his pet witch Drea for good. It's just getting the chance to do it. I'm thrilled with how this series ended. There are spoilers to make but I refuse to spoil any of this book.
