As an elementary school teacher, I was thrilled to encounter this whole series (London, Rome, Paris and the Travel Book), as it seems that geography is increasingly less emphasized in schools and North American students are often geographically/culturally unaware of the world. This fun, colorful, graphic, quarky book is an easy read that kids will be intrigued to look at, and then will find themselves interested to actually dig in and read, as the pages are totally engrossing. They will be excited to find out the bizarre facts about New York and the other places in this series; they will feel proud to show off their knowledge to their friends and parents, who probably don't know half of the details about these places that their kids will know after reading this. This is a great collection to showcase on every teacher's book shelves and will help incite interest and enthusiasm during social studies lessons! It is especially great for kids who are curious about the world and hungry for adventurous travel, but it is also a great source of inspiration for those who don't know they dream of traveling yet! Parents planning a family trip will love how excited their kids will be when preparing for the trip and how engaged and informative they will be during the trip after having read these books. It will make the trip a much more thrilling and meaningful experience for the kids and the parents. These books really help to open up the world to kids and expand their perspectives, which is so important both for educational and humanistic reasons.
