Dusted off my copy dated October, 1968.  I was 17 then, now 62 and rereading it seems like it's even better this second time!  Could hardly wait to get to the part about the .375 H&H rifle. My caliber of choice were I to go  on African or Asian safari.  A movie should be made of this book. I can do the screenplay.

Remembered this book from my childhood. Want my boys to read it. Know they will love it, too.

This story helps kids to learn to understand, and have empathy for others. It has adventure, challenges and excitement. I read it when I was in 5th grade and then used it as a teacher of 5th grade for my own students. I read it out loud as they read along. Great disscussion text -- loved by both boys and girls.

This book just is not mind catching or at all like exciting. Some parts are exciting, but to do a report on it. ITS A VERY BAD CHOICE...

I think it was a very exciting book with exciting senes and and lots of adventure in it also has some parts that makes you alittle scared or worried about Jupe (the dog in the story.)or david. so I totally recommend it.

I have used The Loner as part of my literature book series in my 8th grade language arts class for the last nine years. It is a timeless, well written tale that students can relate too, but one that stretches their empathy in healthy ways. It is written with many different layers that students can get a great deal out of with a little help. High recommended.
