Overview

From the New York Times bestselling author of SWORN TO SILENCE and GONE MISSING comes a powerful and moving story about a troubled young woman and a decades old mystery set in the world of the Amish.

It’s autumn in Painters Mill, and Chief of Police Kate Burkholder and John Tomasetti are taking a much-needed vacation at a small bed and breakfast an hour outside of town. After closing a difficult case, they’re looking forward to some down time, but their relaxation is cut short by rumors that the old house where they’re staying is haunted by a girl who disappeared twenty years earlier, leaving nothing behind but some bloody clothes by the river and rumors of a volatile relationship. Swept up in the girl’s story, and a need for justice, Kate and John begin looking into the mysterious disappearance of Angela Blaine.  They discover long-buried secrets—and unravel a mystery with an unexpected outcome.

Linda has done it again. She's written a riveting story that had me quickly turning the pages as I had to know what happens next. Kate and John are at their best as they tackle a twenty-year mystery with surprising results. This was a great read with two of the strongest and intense characters I know and I eagerly await the next book after having read a sneak peek.

In Linda Castillo's "Long Lost,"Kate Burkholder and John Tomasetti are taking a much needed two day vacation when they learn that the B&B they're staying at is supposedly haunted. The ghost is said to be that of a girl who went missing over twenty years earlier and while they're supposed to be off the clock, Kate can't help but be intrigued by the old case. She and a reluctant Tomasetti decide to offer their help but can they solve the mystery that has eluded officials for so long?
This one was really fun. It doesn't tie into any of the other series installments at all, it's simply an extra little story featuring the two series leads. Fans of the series will enjoy this extra little outing while waiting to get their hands on HER LAST BREATH (and it includes an excerpt from the upcoming release as well).

    Extremely good read!

I am a great fan of the Kate Burkholder series. I just love these Amish (thriller) mysteries. This was a very good short story, just left me wanting more! Easy to read in one sitting. I highly recommend this if you just need your Kate Burkholder fix while waiting for the next book!

    It's a SHORT story

I honestly love this author and this series but I missed where this was a SHORT story - 49 pages. I stopped reading because I found it hard to believe it was going to wrap up in that amount of time.

    *** Pleasant story

Enjoyed the story but wanted more. This is a novelette by a writer who creates highly developed characters that you really get involved getting to know. This story was good but too short. Guess it had to be since it only covered a weekend. Guess that's why we weren't given a chance to get to know the characters either.
