“She can’t be dead!” the young pastor cried as he looked down at the still, white face of his new bride. Blinded by bitterness, Paul Cameron leaves his church and flees to a logging camp deep in the north woods of Wisconsin. There he wrestles with his loss—unable to get Corrine out of his mind and unwilling to make peace with God.

Overview

“She can’t be dead!” the young pastor cried as he looked down at the still, white face of his new bride. Blinded by bitterness, Paul Cameron leaves his church and flees to a logging camp deep in the north woods of Wisconsin. There he wrestles with his loss—unable to get Corrine out of his mind and unwilling to make peace with God.

When a falling tree crushes his legs, Paul can run no further. Broken now in body as well as spirit, he must face his own heart as he encounters the love of God in the patient care of his nurse, Abigail Finlayson.

The Long Road Home touches shattered dreams with God’s faithfulness and the possibility of new love in this turn–of–the–century romance.

I loved this book. I read it in a day and a half, because I couldn't put it down. Lori Wick is very descriptive and she keeps your attention. You know things will work out in the story, but when and how they will happen keep you guessing. I can't wait to read the last one.

Very simple writing, like a child wrote it. The characters and their emotions were very unlayered to say the most. Even for a Christan book it was a very bare bones story. Quite boring. Sorry.

I wish life was like this! Where love could be found anywhere and everyone cared for one another. I may not be old enough to understand the true meaning of love and what it's all about but I sure know that it is a beautiful thing when done right! I truly connected to both characters after experiencing the pain of my grandmother's death. I don't remember the last time I've ever cried that hard over a book. And in a good way too.
