Long Trip Aloneby Dierks Bentley
Dierks Bentley has notched two platinum albums the hard way -- he's earned them, by grinding it out on the road, building an audience, and coming back again and again with good songs, a dynamic stage presence, a hot band, and a will to win. With Long Trip Alone he's going to go three-for-three in the platinum department, but there's more to the story. Bentley's been taking notes and taking note all at once. Most of the songs (and he co-wrote them all) find him at large in America, wandering-minstrel style, looking for the substance of life. Bentley tied the knot in the past year, and the artist who cast himself as a Modern Day Drifter on his 2005 sophomore album is now feeling the lure of the home front; he articulates as much in the title track (a folk-country ballad with a decided Rodney Crowell feel in its vivid, clipped verses that set up a majestic, soaring chorus) and in the fevered, intense homecoming ballad, "Soon as You Can." Yet our conflicted hero makes it clear that the road is his bride's only rival, as he celebrates the delights of the journey in the stomping "Every Mile a Memory" and cites a joyous litany of the hard times he's endured and learned from while savoring every precious moment in "Can't Live It Down," a barnburning workout fueled by a furiously strummed mandolin and exuberant fiddle lending a bluegrass tint to the palette. Who wins out? Let's say it gets interesting from here on for the newlyweds.

I love the sounds of his music. I especially like his voice, and the way he performs the songs. I amazingly love Dierks Bentley. And I also love the album and the song "Long Trip Alone".
Dierks Bentley does it once again! Creating, sounds and rythems that everyone can relate to! Truly, one of my favorite Albums!
I love all of Dierks music as it is orginal, unforgettable, and refreshing, but Long Trip Alone is his bet yet! I was not able to pick just one favorite song as they are all great, but Every Mile A Memory, Long Trip Alone, Can't Live It Down, Soon As You Can, Trying To Stop Your Leaving, and The Heaven I'm Headed To are my favorites, and every chance I get I pop in the CD and sing along. When I can't listen to the CD, I find myself looking forward to hearing Dierks on the radio and can't help but tune out everything else and sing along, as Dierk's songs have grown roots in my memory. I finally got to see Dierks in concert in St. Paul in November 06, and he sang some of his old as well as his new stuff and I found myself entranced by his ability to pull you into his songs, especially his new stuff. He seems to be digging deeper and pulling up winners!! Dierks is unforgettable due to his music, sexy voice, and isn't bad looking either!! I am totally in love with Long Trip Alone and would recommend it to anyone who is in for an unforgettable experience!!
It was Dierks who described his album as a mix between U2/Waylon Jennings, and he was on point. When you hear his music its like nothing else being played on the radio. Dierks is honky-tonk on a modern level. You can tell these songs are written by the man who sings them. When you listen to the CD its like a story, a theme, its rare to find this. Most artists don't write their own music, so it's hard to believe their sincerity when they sing. With Dierks you know he lived every moment in every song. Its been years since albums like this were on the shelf. Reminds me of the classics like Willie, Waylon and Cash, this is the new outlaw in country music.
I was cautious before I bought this album. After I heard Come A Little Closer off his MDD cd I decided to buy that cd. It was amazing. I did not think he could do any better, but once I bought this cd I could not believe how good it was. It is definitely one of his best. My Favorite songs off the album are "Free and Easy" "Can't Live It Down" and "Long Trip Alone". the rest are great too.
If you haven't picked up the new CD by Dierks Bentley yet, you are missing out! "Long Trip Alone" is a unique blend of bluegrass, country, and rock and roll music in one package. Bentley, who co-wrote each of the 11 tracks on the album, sings about everything from life on the road, to religion, to relationships. This CD is the kind that gets stuck in your head (in a good way) and makes you want to keep playing it.
I would buy this for yourself or for someone else. Dierks is so real, so down to life. He is human and his music is personal. You can find yourself really relating to Dierks. His style and his personality are sincere and are recognized thru his music. He really considers the feelings of his fellow fans and puts on a good show. I am happy I got hooked onto being a fan. I love his new Cd too.
