Mr. Campbell has a way of immersing you in the experience, as I read chapter after chapter I felt like I was sitting around a campfire in a hunting camp. It was as if I was listening to the stories of an experienced hunter sharing his life experiences both good and bad. Rarely do I find myself reading, enjoying each page and regretting that the book will eventually come to an end all at the same time. This is one of those books. I would love to tell you more, but to do so would rob you of the experience of reading this wonderful book yourself.

After reading the book "Longbow" by Jay Campbell, I came away with a pretty good feeling about what this book is not; this book is not another run of the mill " how to", hook and bullet typical, main stream, “let’s take the easy way to kill an animal in order to boost ones ego” book. Therefore, if you are looking for a quick and easy hunting guide, then perhaps this may not be the hunting book for you. If however, you have a passion for things achieved through hard work and discipline and can appreciate one couple’s quest to honestly seek out adventure and challenge themselves in the outdoors while maintaining a high degree of class and respect, then I can honestly say I believe you will thoroughly enjoy the read. As a lifelong archer and outdoorsman, I felt Campbell’s gifted storytelling eloquently captured the insight and spirit we seek to find in nature. For sure, this journey is walked with longbow in hand, but the challenges and tribulations the Campbells share will be appreciated by anyone with an adventurous spirit.
