    One of a kind work

Robert Hardy's Longbow is THE definitive work on the history and technical aspects of the longbow. It will delight archer and non archer alike. Hardy brings to full light the true impact and performance of this magnificant Medievel weapon. I am anxiously awaiting his next work supposedly called War Bow.

Well-Written, Interesting, Complete and a Real Keeper

This book is a marvelously written history of the 'stout yew bow.' In addition to the history and development of humanity's first artillery, however, it is a social history of how the Bow came to equalize the classes. When a peasant with a bow and arrow can effectively kill a mounted knight, armed with the finest defensive armor money can buy, there is a drastic resultant change in the structure of society. The book is brilliant, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. It is a shame that the UK has decided to eliminate the rights of it's citizenry to own arms. Parliament has destroyed the rights that the longbow created and in a sense, the book is an elegy, in addition to a history.
