You must look and Look, Again! at April Wilson's illustrations to spot the subtle differences between the facing, full-page pictures that seem the same at first glance. In both books, Ms. Wilson created two almost identical views of flora and fauna from twelve habitats. The variations between the paired paintings highlight specific characteristics: In one pair, for example, the berry-like fruit of a pepper-vine ripens from green to red; in another, a giraffe appears to dine on an acacia tree. On the last pages, the differences are highlighted in red on black-and-white miniatures with explanatory annotations by A.J. Wood.
