Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Kim Harris Thacker
Although the construction of this installment in the "A+ Books Eye-Look Picture Game" series is, at first, somewhat confusing (perhaps due to an overabundance of explanations in the introduction of how to use the book), it is, overall, a useful instrument which teachers and parents can use to teach young readers about analogies. The reader is presented with a pair of photos (all of which are high-quality) that are related in some way. This relationship applies to a second pair of photos on the page but the reader must "fill in the blank" in order to complete the analogy. While the book is most appropriately suited to young readers, with its child-friendly size and text that is clear and simple (once the over-explained introduction has ended), readers of all ages will enjoy studying the large, bright, and varied photos in this entertaining book and will also have fun figuring out the analogies. Teachers and parents will find this book useful in helping children learn about comparisons. Reviewer: Kim Harris Thacker
