This book was by an author I had never heard of and I was just looking for something new. I was so pleased with my choice! It is gritty and urban and the author really has a great way with story telling. I always loved that strong Southern woman kind of thing and this book didn't disappoint. There's a scene that is so well written it is almost a little hard to read, but the characters are strong and I have to wonder if this isn't another famous author writing under a different pen name since there aren't any more by this one. If she's new...well done! I hope there is more coming!

When I first started this book, I wasn't sure what I was expecting exactly. I think it was probably along the lines of a dramatized romance centered around the Campbell women.  That is not at ALL what I got, and I don't mean that negatively.

This book was exciting, disturbing, triumphant, and at times an overall hot mess ( but in a good way ).  The author did a great job of pulling the reader in and keeping the pace moving to make sure you stayed hooked.  The dynamics of the characters were great.  You really came to love these three woman for different reasons and could see that they all shared the same trait even though they weren't together for a majority of the story. And man, did you hate the villain in this book too.  The story in this book was probably one of the best books I read in the last year, and I personally think the author should consider turning this into a screen play. I think it would make a fantastic movie.

However, the lack of editing really upset me because I felt this was a 5 star story but when you are reading a sentence and the wrong character name is used it really throws you off.  I found myself getting pulled out of the story a few times thinking, wait that wasn't him ( or her ).  Also I felt the dialogue didn't really match the person's station.  A 17 yo Alabama breed backwoods girl wouldn't have the same speech pattern as a 40 yo Beverly Hills Real Estate agent.  Those are the only reason's I didn't give it the 5 stars it deserved.  I hope the author will consider revising the book, so that her sales and reviews reflect the books true value.

Fell head first into this book!

"Look Away, Dixieland " grabbed my interest in the first few pages. I'm not one for most historical romances, but I do love regional fiction which was just one of several reasons why this book got my attention. Following the paths of the characters had me quickly turning pages. Can't wait for the sequel!
