The Wolf, Red, a ring, and an Englishman...and those are just the supporting characters. The heroine of the story finds herself in hot water after her aunt is murdered and she inherits the aunt's home and 'magic' shop, and did I mention she just might happen to find love along the way. This story has everything necessary for a great read. Although the banter between the characters seemed a bit unnecessary at times it was not enough for me not to rate this as a 5 star work. The adventure starts strong and maintains a solid pace to the very end. I slammed Looking for the Good Life down in one sitting and I enjoyed every single second. Applause, Applause, APPLAUSE Jayne Hyatt.

The story was amazing. It is a two for one romance, and the characters were strong and wonderful to get to know. It was also very clean, and appropriate for all ages, although I don’t know that teenagers would be as interested in it, but some would be. It was a slow start, and it had a great deal of dialog, which is why I only gave it 4 stars, but the touch of magic was a big plus for me, as well as the realism that kept the story grounded and not too fanciful or overly contrived. The writing was also well done, and easy to read and follow. Loved it, loved it, and would recommend it to anyone who loves clean love stories. I like a little smut in mine normally, but I still laughed, cried, and had the bageesus scared out of me, and that is what counts.

Romance, Mystery, Fun, and Adventure all wrapped up in a glowing package

I was immediately drawn in by the adventure in the opening chapter. As the story unfolds, we find that our heroine, Emma, has inherited her aunt’s magic shop. However, we are not just told that, we learn it through conversations and situations that are presented in a way that causes the story to unfold while fully investing you. Add in that the characters are strong and well painted, and you become engulfed, as if living in their world. I enjoyed the banter among the characters. It gave them that extra dimension that authors so often neglect.

This is a very nice romance with quiet of bit of intrigue skillfully weaved in. You can tell this is not one of those books that was slapped together. Looking For the Good Life was a very gratifying (suspenseful, romantic, and often humorous) read that was incredibly well written. If you don’t want what has become the common, hack and slash, norm, then read this book!!! I truly look forward to whatever Jane Hyatt has up her sleeve next.
