Overview

From duchesses to chamber maids, everybody's reading it. Each Tuesday, The London List appears, filled with gossip and scandal, offering job postings and matches for the lovelorn—and most enticing of all, telling the tales and selling the wares a more modest publication wouldn't touch. . .

The creation of Evangeline Ramsey, The London List saved her and her ailing father from destitution. But the paper has given Evie more than financial relief. As its publisher, she lives as a man, dressed in masculine garb, free to pursue and report whatever she likes—especially the latest disgraces besmirching Lord Benton Gray. It's only fair that she hang his dirty laundry, given that it was his youthful ardor that put her off marriage for good. . .

Lord Gray—Ben—isn't about to stand by while all of London laughs at his peccadilloes week after week. But once he discovers that the publisher is none other than pretty Evie Ramsey with her curls lopped short, his worries turn to desires—and not a one of them fit to print. . .

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Robinson (Mistress by Marriage) launches a Regency series with this appealing tale of sin and redemption. Baron Benton Gray is finally fed up with the way the editor of London’s most popular scandal tabloid, the London List, describes his bachelor exploits. He decides to put his wealth and power to the task and approaches the List’s editor, hoping to buy the rag. Much to Ben’s surprise, the rascally editor is Evangeline Ramsey, his first love, masquerading as a man. She declines his offer, so Ben goes over her head, wheedling a sales agreement from her ailing father. But when he shutters the newspaper, its advertisers and readers threaten to riot. With endearing good humor, Ben rehires Evie, and the two work side-by-side—and sometimes front-to-front—as the smoldering embers of love rekindle flames of passion. What this witty, raunchy comedy lacks in plausibility, it makes up for with wordplay and pure fun. Agent: Laura Bradford, Bradford Literary Agency. (Dec.)

This is not for purists, but anyone who has read historical romances and is tired of formulaic writing will love Evie and Ben's unconventional romance.

Very good story

This is my first book by Ms. Robinson. It is about 260 pages ofstory followed by some previews of her other books. This book is about a woman who is two years older than the man. The two characters are funny and Evie is good at finding fault in Ben. Ben is nice and rich. There was lots of romance with some crude language. This is not the type of romance i enjoy because the woman complains all the time and is older than the man.

An interesting premise, and the book starts out with potential. Unfortunately it becomes a story that revolve around sex and little else. I did not even finish this book. Disappointed....

This was an interesting, if somewhat unlikely, perspective on a woman working under the pseudonym of her father's name. I found the unremitting episodes of torrid sex a annoying after a while . . . by comparison, rabbits (reportedly frequently engaged in procreation) are layabouts and relatively chaste.

While I enjoyed the plot and seeing both characters grow and change the language really got to me. I thought it could have been better without the language.

Rarely do i dislike a book but this was just awful. I had so skip throgh much of it to through it. The girl was hateful and rude throughout. The man constanly groveled after her. Thr author painted her as a very dislikabale person. I will probably not read any more of her boosks amd will delete this one.
