I wished that I had read this book 10 years ago when I went through my divorce. Survival but remaining true to yourself and God seemed to be the theme to me throughout this book. I didn't want to put the book down. Fast read.

This book is non fiction. It has 271 pages and is well edited. It is about the author's divorce and how she handled the pain, with her faith and trust in God. It is very good and at times heart breaking. I consider it a novel of survival. AD

I am not of the Christian faith but I found this book to be a blessing. As a single woman, I often face times of lonliness and uncertainty but Donna's message is clear, to both Christians, and other faiths and spiritual beliefs (I am a Taoist): Let God be enough, let him be your husband. I especially understood her struggle with the card from the man whom her mind had conviced her was a sign, but was actually Satan trying to trick her into straying from his divine plan and doing something not pleasing. I also understood where she was coming from when she got the final divorce papers. We often pray or meditate for what we want or what we think is best but God doesn't always answer our prayers the way we want, but in the way he thinks is best. Doesn't matter what religion you are or what your spiriruality is, in the end he knows our needs, our truest desires, and our hurts and finds the best way to manifest them. We must savor the good moments, and be willing to give the hurts over to him, and be grateful. I so needed this message for without knowing it, I was shamed by my singleness, had let other, partnered people shame me into thinking I was not lovable or capable of receiving or giving love because of my status. That is simply NOT TRUE! We are all lovable and capable of giving and receiving love. And if you regret not having the love of a partner or spouse, be assured that you have God's love, and God is your faithful partner, soulmate, and spouse. He will not leave you to bear the burdens of despair, sadness, uncertainty, or lonliness on your own. Nor does he lie, cheat, break promises, or walk away like so many partners and spouses do in this world!!! I consider myself blessed and special to have this gift!!! I believe Donna was placed right where she needed to be to bring this message to my heart. Hopefully her story will bless you too in your journey: If you face the pain of divorce or the lonliness of single life.

Lord, I Need A Hug The book that I ordered about six weeks ago finally came and I was excited to read it because I have so much admiration for the author, Donna Christensen, who attends my church. While reading Lord, I Need a Hug, I felt like I was having coffee with the author as she was telling me her story. The book was genuine and not filled with Christian jargon or worn out phrases. I was excited about reading it and could not put it down. The author introduced me to a woman who was seeking God in her life even though her "normal" life was changing in ways that would change her life forever. She never wanted a divorce and was hoping and praying that her marriage would stay intact. I loved the book and would recommend it for not only people going through divorce, but also for pastors, counselors, and anyone going through any sort of trial. Her constant walk with the Lord humbled me and made me realize that praying on your knees is not out of style. She constantly sought the Lord through scripture and prayer and He helped her make it through a tough time. While going through this trial, she did not wallow in self pity but was continually seeking God’s will for her despite enduring pain she had never known before. Since I know the author, Donna Christensen, I know that she continued to serve the Lord in ministry long after she wrote this book. She seemed to be content in her singleness and continued to follow the Lord's leading by helping others through hard times and, in the end, to enable them to discover joy again. Lord, I need a Hug and Ms. Christiansen’s life serve as great reminders that whatever trials may befall us we should trust the Lord and seek to know what we can learn from Him through the experience.

This book was very uplifting. I live with an extremely difficult husband. I do a lot of things on my own due to him being anti social. It doesn't matter what situation that you are in, it will help you. It guides you to the Lord. Thank you for this book!!
