Overview

From the glitter of Regency London to a sun-kissed Mediterranean paradise, Nicole Jordan captivates with her breathtaking sensuality and unforgettable romance. In Book 2 of her fabulous PARADISE series, to foil a murderous plot, a duke's rebel son pretends a betrothal to a beautiful artist and becomes ensnared in a scorching love. Bestselling author Mary Jo Putney calls LORD OF SEDUCTION "Masterly, scorchingly sensual... a feast for lovers of Regency historical romance!"

NO WOMAN COULD TAME HIM . . . UNTIL HE MET HIS MATCH.

With his reckless charm and lust for danger, Viscount Thorne is one of England's most elusive bachelors--and member of a secret league of protectors known as the Guardians. To thwart his father's matchmaking schemes, Thorne asks an alluring artist to pose as his betrothed.

Burned once by desire, Diana Sheridan swears off love. But to secure her cousin's place in society, she agrees to Thorne's charade. Then scandal brews, and Thorne insists on going through with the marriage. When Diana refuses, resisting his smoldering passion, the rakish lord wages a dazzling campaign of seduction.

Meanwhile, danger threatens their very lives. Yet Thorne realizes the greater danger is to his heart. For he never expected to get caught in a matrimonial snare of his own making--or imagined their pretense of a love match would become so tantalizingly real.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Ladies, loosen your corsets and take a deep breath, because Jordan's newest (after Master of Temptation) is another sensual Regency starring an alpha male and the spirited woman who captures his heart. Viscount Christopher Thorne, a member of the secret society Guardians of the Sword, sworn to uphold honor and defeat tyranny, has his world shattered by the killing of his best friend and fellow Guardian, Nathaniel. A year later, on the Mediterranean isle of Cyrene, Nathaniel's beautiful cousin Diana gives Thorne a letter written by Nathaniel shortly before his death that makes Thorne realize that his friend was murdered and all the Guardians are vulnerable. To keep his dynasty-obsessed father off his back while he returns to London to investigate, Thorne proposes a sham betrothal to Diana-which he soon wants to make real. Wary of Thorne's rakehell past, Diana refuses to believe he loves her, and it's only during the gripping climax that Diana admits that she can't live without him. Though the first half is light on plot and heavy on sensual encounters, the pace of the second half soon picks up, plunging Thorne and Diana into the mystery of Nathaniel's death. The tame jacket art gives no clue to the story's high sex content, but those familiar with Jordan's work won't be fooled. Agent, Karen Solem. (Dec.) Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.

    LORD OF SEDUCTION

I enjoyed the book. I read a number of historical romance novels.(2-3 a week) This one was average. I tend to read these novels in seguencial order. The first was better somewhat. The first in this sequence was MASTER OF TEMPTATION.

    Indulge & Be Delighted !!

Another superbly written story by Nicole Jordan...a sensual..and unforgettable tale.. Lord Thorne: the requisite, elusive and of course strikingly handsome hero..and indeed he is a hero, as a member of the protectors called the Guardians. ( a secret society, chock full of these lovely scrumptious men). Lady Diana: the talented artistically inclined lady, with a healthy curiousity for the male anatomy...oh. !! for art's sake of course !! I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did , from it's scandalously erotic beginning, to it's entirely enjoyable ending... Indulge & Be Delighted!!!

    Lord of Seduction? You Bet!

I read the reviews on this one and expected a top notch book - I was not disappointed. I am a first time reader to Nicole Jordan and 'Lord of Seduction'. I expect to buy the rest of the series to find out about the men of the secret society - The Guardians. I enjoyed this book - fast moving plot line, believable characters and steamy love scenes. It's good to find a book that makes you warm when you read it - the author is making things come alive. Diana and Throne were excellent matches to one another - she strong and witty and beautiful and he vibrant, physical, dashing, honorable and handsome. All the things we like best in a heroine and hero. The only thing I didn't like is that Nathaniel was killed off - it almost felt too abrupt. He seemed like a character that was too powerful to let go but, alas...he was the necessary victim to keep this plot going. I would recommend this book and expect to keep my copy in my personal library and not share it - I only do that with the really good ones. Enjoy!

Unbelievable! Unforgettable! Sizzling to say the Least!

Wheeeeeeeew! I have just visited a sun-kissed Mediterranean paradise, sailed the high seas, waltzed in the ballrooms of glitz and glitter that is Regency England, blushed on the sin-stage of a brothel, and experienced a sensuality with the intensity of a need to embrace life after a near-death experience... All I can say is: WOW, what a ride!!! Viscount Thorne is a rakish lord who embraces his bachelorhood. Sinfully handsome, oozing irresistible charm, and drawn to danger like a bee to honey. There is one gauntlet he refuses to cross though, and that is Matrimony. And if his insatiable lust for life on the wild side is any indication, he intends to continue living with almost reckless abandon. But like a true hero he has a heart, which is his redemption. Thorne is a Guardian of the Sword, sworn to fight for a noble cause; he is a loyal friend, determined to seek justice for the murder of a friend or die trying; and when he meets his Lady 'Match,' he is a determined and vulnerable lover. Diana Sheridan is a woman scorned by upper ranks of London society for a mistake she made in her past. She is also a budding artist forced to endure the obstacles of gender restrictions in her chosen career. However, before she can focus on her hopes and dreams for the said career, she is determined to do everything in her power to see her young and naïve cousin Amy properly presented to Society and settled. She will even go as far as pretend a betrothal to Lord Thorne for improving her image and various other reasons. Hold on to your book, when this charade is infused with dangerous and suspenseful interruptions! While Thorne is busy battling both as a Guardian and a lover, and Diana is discovering her own wild side and feelings, you will find yourself arriving at one breathless happy-ever-after¿ This is an incredible book, one I couldn¿t put down to be sure. The elegant, yet searing, sensuality, and the lively romantic suspense were further enhanced by well-developed secondary characters and a bonus story of romance.

    Nicole Jordan has another hit

Let Nicole Jordan transport you to the Isle of Cyrene, feel the warm breeze off the Mediterranean wash over you. This is where Diana Sheridan finds Christopher, Viscount Thorne, as he is just finishing bathing nude in a cove. Diana has left chilly London traveling three weeks on a packet to find Viscount Thorne for several reasons. She intends to implore Thorne to return with her to London to help launch her cousin Amy, his ward, in her first season. She also needs to remove Amy, from London before her budding romance with a fortune hunter becomes too serious. She also carries a letter written a year ago, by Amy¿s brother, to Thorne. It was supposed to have been delivered just after Nathaniel's murder but was just recently found. Thorne is a member of the Guardians, a secret group dedicated to protecting the weak and working for the good of mankind. Their headquarters are on the isle of Cyrene. Nathaniel was also a member and it seems he was murdered a year ago because someone had discovered his secret. The chemistry between Thorne and Diana is evident from the beginning of the book. Diana is a talented artist and when she comes across him after bathing, and is confronted with the nude form that Thorne presents she is intrigued. She is tough, willing to defend what is hers, maybe a little tarnished around the edges but straightens her shoulder, lifts her chin and is willing to confront whatever comes at her. Thorne is also fascinated by this female that is neither interested in trapping him into a marriage nor intimidated by his bullying. This is a wonderful book, Nicole keeps your interest throughout. You might be able to tell by now that I loved the book. I sat down to start it on my day off with a cup of tea and by the time I reached for my tea again it was cold. It was very hard to put down.

    Jordan Stays True to Form

I had the honor of reading an AVR copy of Lord of Seduction and found the romance and sensuality of Nicole's earlier works equaled or maybe surpassed with a touch of suspence thrown in. Her characters Thorne and Diana come alive within the pages. Loved it.

    Lord of Seduction: A Novel

I just read an advance copy of Lord of Seduction and couldn't put it down. Thorne was so sexy and heroic and Diana was a wonderful heroine who proves his match. The art background was an interesting addition to the London ton, and the plot was intriguing. I loved this book!

    engaging Regency romantic suspense

In 1815, the Ton enjoys betting on the ongoing ¿contest¿ between Viscount Thorne and his father. Dad, the duke, wants his son married with the heir; so the Duke of Redcliff consistently buys off his son¿s lovers and tosses eligible women in his path. Christopher finds his sire¿s actions amusing, but frustrating as he is not ready to wed anyone especially since he has become a member of the Guardians of the Sword sworn to stamp out evil and tyranny.--- Someone murders fellow Guardian Nate Lunsford, who named Chris as his sister¿s guardian. Chris is on the Isle of Cyrene, when artist Diana Sheridan arrives with Nate¿s sister Amy in hand. Diana is worried that a fortune hunter has captured Amy¿s affection and thinks only her guardian can keep disaster from happening. Chris agrees to return to London, but insists that Diana, a victim of scandal several years ago, pretend to be his fiancée. That would keep dad in check, enable him to guide Amy, and uncover the identity of the killer. He never anticipated that he wants to marry Diana as Chris has fallen in love while she tries to elude this master of temptation.--- The second ¿Guardian¿ tale (¿Paradise¿ as Ballantine calls the miniseries seems off) is an engaging Regency romantic suspense that hook readers from the moment that Nate is murdered until the final two confrontations (with the killer and between the lead duet). The story line moves fast, but also insures key secondary cast members seem genuine especially Amy and the Duke. Though the killer seems too odd of a twist, sub-genre fans will feel that Nicole Jordan has entertained them again.--- Harriet Klausner

    Lord of Seduction: A Novel

Viscount Thorne wants nothing to do with the potential brides his ducal father keeps throwing in his path, or the young ladies who keep chasing him bent on matrimony. He does, however, want to return to London to search for the villain who murdered his best friend. So he convinces Diana Sheridan to pose as his fiancee. Because of a scandal in her past, Diana isn¿t interested in love or marriage, but wants to pursue her art career and to protect her flighty cousin Amy from a fortune hunter. But when Thorne and Diana go to London to oversee Amy¿s Season, their pretend betrothal really heats up since they can¿t help falling for each other. This book is filled with wonderful characters, delightful subplots, sizzling red-hot chemistry, and exciting danger as Thorne and Diana negotiate scandal and the London ton in search of a murderer. Highly recommended for readers who love sensual Regency historicals.
