If you like romance then you'll like this book.

I've read this book at least 30 times. If you want to take a trip to a foreign land without leaving home then read this. It's good. You have some action, romance, conspiracy, etc. It's not for horror lovers and supernatural lovers, but more for the basic romance novel lover.

    BREATH TAKING, LOVING, WONDERFUL READ

DP is the very best! You are taken in right from the begining with Maggie and Gretchen traveling. Not a dull moment with Phillipe around and don't forget his father and all his grand children LOL But you have to read the book to find out what I am talking about.

Loved every second of this book and as soon as I was done I started over.

    Going against the flow!

A very mundane novel with uneven plotting which totally ruined what could have been an engaging story. While the hero had great promise, he becomes an idiot about half way through the book. The heroine just became tiresome. Don't waste your time on this one. If you want a good romance, read Nora Roberts.

    Enjoyable desert romance

Houston investment analyst Maggie Barton leaves Texas to work in Qawi as the personal assistant to the ruling Sheikh. On the way over, Maggie accompanied by her best friend Gretchen Brannon stop for a short vacation in Tangiers. However, after only one day in Africa, Maggie learns that her beloved Cord Romero was severely injured in an accident. Although she believes Cord will never love her, Maggie needs to return home to help him recover. Maggie tries to persuade a doubting Gretchen to continue on to Qawi and take her job.
Still in Tangiers, Gretchen accidentally runs into a handsome man, who enjoys her enthusiasm and gusto. He turns out to be Maggie¿s new employer Sheikh Philippe Sabon, who sees the ardent American as an answer to one of his problems. Both hide the truth from one another, but soon fall in love, leaving each one worrying over what will happen to their relationship without the foundation of veracity.
Best-selling author Diana Palmer provides her fans with a heated contemporary desert romance. The story line is fast-paced, but requires leaps of faith. Gretchen is a warm heroine and Philippe is a hunk of the highest order. The secondary cast adds depth that brings Mediterranean Africa and the Middle East to life. Although not one of Ms. Palmer's better novels, fans of Middle East romances will delight in LORD OF THE DESERT.
Harriet Klausner

This is one of my all time favorite DP books. I love it so much

This is one of my all time favorite DP books. I love it so much I have it in paperback, on my nook, and both audio book versions (abridged and unabridged). I read it or listen to it over an over and have lost count of how many times I've read or listened to it. It's just such an entertaining story with twists and turns and unexpected romantic issues not to mention other characters from other DP books that if you are not already a Diana Palmer fan now I think this one just might hook you into reading more.

The hero of this story is Phillipe Sabon an Arab Sheik who made an intriguing debut in another DP book "Once in Paris"; which is another great and touching story with some intrigue of its own that rolls over into "Lord of the Dessert". When time permits I like to read all the books related to this story in the following order. (Please note you can read this book as a stand-alone beautifully but if you like to immerse yourself in Diana Palmer brooding male land like I do, this is just the order I like to read them.)

    1 - Once in Paris
    2- Paper Roses
3 - Lord of the Desert
    4 - The Texas Ranger
    5 - Desperado

I hope you give the whole sequence a try. Enjoy!

    I love this book!

The premise is great! I enjoyed getting to know both Gretchen and the Sheikh Philippe. I loved their adventure. Just one thought, how could a person in wherever country married would assume that she is not married just because the Sheikh, her husband said so?
