    Excellent book for people to read

    Lord of the Flies is one of my favorite novels. Is an incredible journey, that follows a group of boys stranded on an island after a plane crash. All the parents on the plane have died, so this big group of boys has to fend for themselves. Lord of the Flies is a novel about our human nature. Too often I think, people jump to quick conclusions about the book and Golding's stand on human nature. He wasn't making things up, I don't think he was particularly angry, he wrote Lord of the Flies to expose people to the killing that he witnessed in World War II.Another interesting connection I made while reading, was one between Jack's status of leader and the ideology of Thomas Hobbes. Unlike Hobbes though, Jack's power was used for quite the opposite affect.Lord of the Flies is also a novel filled with symbolism. Probably the most important of these symbols was the conch. The conchs represented several things, including freedom and order on the island, and possibly, even for a short time, unity between the boys.his symbolizes two things. First, it symbolizes the end of order on the island no more meetings, no more assemblies, none of that, the island was a place of anarchy. Secondly, this destruction symbolizes the end of Ralph's leadership. The boys had become slaves to Jack and his power, their principles gave in.

    EXCELLENT!!!!! :)

    This book is one of my favourite novels! It's very advenrous and it keep you on your seat. I am doing a novel study for this book for a grade 8 english assignment. Many of my classmates have found this book boring and/or too complex. I introuduced my classmates to SparkNotes and now, they're all using this reference and they are done their assignments in no time!

    William Golding is absolutely BRILLIANT!!! He has turned an amazing adventure book into an allegory. This book has helped me expand my knowledge, not only for literature, but for the world in general.

    SparkNotes is a GREAT reference to people reading this book and want to understand it in depth!

    very helpful companion

    Lord of the Flies

    In short, this was a very well written book. It helps us question our civility so that we do not reach an arrogant comfort zone. It is a wake-up call to the world that we can always advance in civility. Very well written.

    It Is What It Is

    I am a high school English teacher and noticed that quite a few students turned in papers that were very similar. These students are not friends nor in the same class. I bought this book to see if their essays were aided by SparkNotes.

    Excellent book for High School Honor Students

    Students in high school taking honors courses can use Spark Notes as a source to getting excellent grades in a short amount of time. In my case, Lord of The Flies (Spark Notes) was very useful. I completed my assignment in no time. The book kept me captivated & did not bore me. Overall, I would recommend that students get this book if they have an assignment due in a short amount of time.

    Lord of the Flies was a decent book with lots of adventure, murder and mystery. It started with a plane crash on an island in the middle o the ocean. The plane consisted of many children: Ralph 'who was elected chief', Piggy 'who was large, smart, and often the butt of rude jokes' Jack 'the leader of the choir', the choir, Samneric 'Sam and Eric, the identical twins who do everything together', and quite a bit of little children. There were several dramatic conflicts that brought out the best and worst in everyones personalities. The longer they stayed on the island the more their imaginations ran away with them. They imagined that there was a beast on the island. Simon thought that a pig-head was talking to him, ran back to their campfire and was mistaken for the beast by the other children. They cracked, became savages, killed Simon, then later killed Piggy with a rock, & tried to kill Ralph! Over all this book had a good story line with a lot of adventure. At times the plot could be difficult to follow, and the ending was abrupt and anticlimactic.
